I finished this serie like 1 week ago, and I have watched the Movie twice and I just love Full Metal Achemist more then anything.
The story in this serie is so deep and makes you realy think how much those 2 brothers goes through just for one thing and not let anything stand in there way to get to there goal... Right now im not watching any anime except Naruto but its 1 episode a week :< ... And now I realy want something new to watch. I know suggestion threads are not the funniest one, but I realy need help... My brother is watching Bleach, and I have been thinking to start with that serie but I dont realy think its something for me... The best series I have seen is: Rurouni Kenshin Full Metal Alchemist Gundam SEED Hikaru No Go Naruto Why I like these series the most is becouse I realy love when its a deep story about there family, a goal they do anything to get to or a decision that can change there lives for ever... I love when sadness and fealings comes in to the story.. Its makes the serie get a life. And now im looking for a similer serie. If you get one on you mind, write here the name of it, what you though about it and a little about the story |

Scrapped Princess. It takes place in an immersive fantasy world and really draws you in, much like Full Metal Alchemist. The main characters undergo strong character development and you can't help but sympathize with the main character throughout the series (even though she acts like an obnoxious brat sometimes...). The villains also have a respectable purpose for doing what they do, and aren't just two-dimensional throw-away characters. The side cast provide for some good laughs, and the overall plotline is solid and has many twists and turns along the way. Strong cast of seiyuu, good animation, and good music as well. Highly recommended.
[EDIT] A plot summary can be found here. Scrapped Princess fits into your criteria. It is a strong story with a strong sense of family and bonding, and they'll do anything to reach their goal of protecting Pacifica, the main character. Sadness and feelings definitely come into play throughout the series as well. Last edited by frentymon on Thu Jul 20, 2006 9:02 pm; edited 3 times in total |

Well, one that comes to mind is Samurai Champloo. It is the story of a girl named Fuu who goes on a journey to find "the samurai who smells like sunflowers." She recruits two samurai, Jin and Mugen, and together they set off to find the samurai. The story isn't that deep besides they are looking for the samurai.
The story has feelings. I'm not going to reveal anything but some parts along the way I got choked up a little. Also, the character Mugen brings a lot of comedy into the story. The show is integrated with hip-hop which makes it extremely unique. I thought it was an extremely good series. I loved Mugen. He was a riot. I think that the series doesn't have much re-watch potential but definitely you have to watch it at least once. I think visually it was impressive as well as it had very good audio. If I could change one thing it would be the ending but in no way should it turn you off this great series. ~Newcomer~ |

Although Bleach is a bit different from Fullmetal Alchemist, In my opinion (and many others I think,) it is very much like Naruto and probably superior to Naruto. Bleach is a bit slower starting but it is at least a new story with less filler (and when there is filler it is better than Naruto filler.) Also, as you like Rurouni Kenshin, you must like Samurai, and that is what Bleach is based around.
It's a typical shonen story, of a slightly grumpy kid who has powers which he slowly improves and he goes along with his group of friends to save another friend/the world. It is set in a world where death gods have to release peoples souls into soul society, and the main character Ichigo has to borrow the death god powers of a real death god, and the story carries on from there. Personally, from what you like, I would say Bleach is perfect for you. (Especially if your brother is already watching it.) Unless you want some mecha, in which case you might like something like Neon Genesis Evangelion or Rahxephon. |

I agree, You will most definatly like Bleach!
Try Full Metal Panic, It is really Fantastic. Full Metal Panic has a great story and Likeable Charcters, it even has one of the coolest Villians I have ever seen! If you have ever seen Ghost in the Shell, Try Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, That is a Great Show! and Last, You just might like Eureka Seven! It has the epic sense that Full Metal Alchemist had and it is from the Same studio! -Curtis Last edited by ryujin jakka on Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:10 pm; edited 1 time in total |

My adivce to you is to link your my anime page! Like so Delta's anime that way it is easier for us to know what kind of anime you are interested in. And not only that we will be able to see what series you have seen and what rating you gave them. Personally since you like Gundam I say that you take a look at some of the other Gundams. G-Gundam, X-Gundam, Gundam Wing. And if your really into those series try the old UC Mobile suit gundams. Also to go along with your samurai thing, there is peacemaker but it has too much humor for my taste but perhaps you'll enjoy this series more then me. Also you do know that there is a couple of different FMP series, Fuumof (or however you spell it) and also Funi is going to release the new season known as Second Raid. Which according to encyclopedia (rankings that is) is the best of the three series. Till next time, Delta Kiral |

If your a gundam fan then I higly recommend Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam. Zeta is a little darker than the original gundam but has a great ending. X-Gundam was pretty good, it got the ax before they planned on finishing it so it feels kinda rushed at the end. Gundam Wing is probably the best non-UC gundam series. FMP the second raid would also be worth your time it deals a lot with Sosuke Sagara's struggle to maintain his soldier life style and that of the normal High school student, which you can start to see over time that he really wants. Good stuff |

i'll be the third person to back up bleach. in my opinion i think bleach is way superior than naruto and this ins't based on because i'm a fan. but however the anime lacks the emotion that you claimed in comparison with fullmetal alchemist.
last exile - this anime will appeal to you greatly, the animation great, the plot is great and you will emotionally attached to the characters. and if you have a sense for mature anime then this is yours. berserk - the all time emotional anime. this anime is really realistic and it's based on war. true friendship comes also and besides the plot is really captivating. hunter x hunter - if anyone would love fullmetal alchemist then this anime would appeal to them too because the theme about this anime is also about friendship or a bond between two characters. their world involve about being hunters and the obstacles that come in between. this anime holds defiantly in comparison with naruto and DBZ. however they do seem in similarities. any anime i have listed here are in the majority of how rare someone would come to say they didn't like this show, so enjoy. |

I don't THINK I saw anybody else suggest either of these, but... I think that you would really like Trigun or S-Cry-Ed. They seem to fit your description pretty well.

Enough people have said it, but it doesn't hurt to repeat sometimes:
Bleach - Everyone is right, you will almost definitely love this series. We have very very similar tastes, check out my anime list. Hunter X Hunter - It's not liscensed here in the US, so you'll have to download a fansub, but I PROMISE you will like it if you can get past the first few episodes. This is THE definition of shounen adventure, and I would have loved this show to go on for another 200 or more episodes (god knows it could have if they really wanted it to ). For the record, my top 5 go something like this: FMA, Naruto, Bleach, Hunter X Hunter, Twelve Kingdoms (they're all REALLY close, and I kind of want to drop Naruto a few slots because of the shitty filler but I just love the non-filler to death ). Hikaru no Go isn't in my top 5.... but top 10 for sure. I'll leave it up to you to decide how similar you think our tastes are. |

If you watched Gundam SEED, why not watch Gundam SEED Destiny? The first twenty episodes really aren't that good, but the story definitely picks up in the later episodes. I must say though, beware the "main" character in this one, Shin... he is quite the whiner.
I will recommend Bleach as well, but I am going to recommend the manga. The manga currently goes further than the anime (duh) and it is up to a really good part right now. I'm also going to recommend Fate/Stay Night for some entertainment. It's a pretty solid series that I just loved for some reason. Also, I haven't seen anyone recommend Samurai Deeper Kyo, which might be able to sate your anime desire for some action (though I particularly liked Fate/Stay Night better for the action part). |

Why, you ask? Maybe, because it was terrible. They recycled the storyline from SEED and then evolved it into something so stupid that I had headaches from thinking about it. spoiler[The war on Logos....] what the hell was up with that. spoiler[They technically made Shinn the bad guy too.] It was really stupid. I think that's why he's not going to watch it. It would only make sense if you recommended it for its action, because that was one of the only good things in the show. |
