So I logged into ANN this morning and was treated to a really annoying BBQ sauce ad with unprompted audio.
I know ANN has to pay the bills, feed babies, and all of that other good stuff, but obnoxious audio ads that play automatically are pretty much the lowest of the low when it comes to internet ads. I hope you guys are really desperate for cash if you're letting these ads onto the front page. I'm so disappointed.

Tempest explained a little about this on his Twitter account. Evidently, February is usually a very weak month for advertising sales, hence the discount to try to spur them.
ANN does not allow advertisements like the one you mentioned, but from what I gather, the advertisements are chosen by the sponsor or network that buys space on ANN, so some that violate ANN policy sometimes sneak through. There's a thread devoted to reporting these for removal. |
