Licensed shows usually have links to their DVDs and BDs, but I don't see any links for their streams. Surely by now it makes sense to start including streaming links as well, when perhaps 3/4's of new late-night releases appear on Crunchyroll, Funimation, or TheAnimeNetwork. There is also a wide array of older shows available at Hulu and elsewhere, some of which like Cross Game and Nodame Cantabile, have never been released on a physical disc in Region 1.

is the absence of such links a conscious policy, a lack of editorial personpower to compile them, or just an oversight? Who is responsible for the links to DVD/BD releases? Are they dependent on our submitting them or are they compiled by ANN's staff? Is there anything we can do to help identify streaming links? Just adding a category to which we could submit the links as we can for other things like casts and summaries would be a start.

If you ever do start including links, please offer the option to post both subtitled and dubbed versions.

Those physical media (plus eBooks) links (located between the "can you contribute any of the following?" pull-down menu and "Japanese staff") existed way before legal streaming -- or even illegal streaming -- was technically feasible. It uses a UPC/ISBN/EAN-dependent proprietary system to grab prices from the seven cooperating online retailers. Therefore, the purpose and technical structure of those physical media links are fundamentally different from streaming site URLs; the latter simply don't have UPC/ISBN/EAN of any sort.

While only Dan could decide and design whether a new category of streaming links to be added among physical media or not, any user is welcomed to add legal streaming websites under "Official website."

Thanks!

I was, of course, only speaking of legal sites. I may starting adding a few to the website section as you suggest.

My kitty wishes she could be a dormcat, too, but my daughter's college frowns on pets in the dorms. I suspect she'd be happier living amongst a bunch of young ladies than hanging around the house with dad, but them's the rules.

Where the video is streaming on ANN (e.g. via Crunchyroll) the videos should be linked from the episode list also (e.g. animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7293&page=25)
