Then why is the main character a female? I'm so confused.

As will the rest of us if you don't provide some information to back up your claim, or at least explain in detail what the heck you're talking about.
Is your confusion about other Shounen Jump titles that have a female as the main character, or is the first one you've ever heard of that does this?
You see, telling us the details saves the trouble of having to read your mind, having your thread reported by other users, and me or another mod locking it for just being plain ambiguous or unhelpful.

But I made a comment that said First SHONEN JUMP title to star a heroine. But then someone sent me a PM telling me it's not. Is that true?

I don't know, I'm not much of a manga reader. Though seeing as how Claymore started serialization in 2001, I'm pretty sure there were other titles that featured lead female characters before then.

I can't say this is the first Jump title to star a female lead, but Cat's Eye predates Claymore by twenty years and has female leads (unless everything I've heard on the series is really off). I guess you could say the same for Dr. Slump, which was a bit older than Cat's Eye, but I'm not sure if you'd consider Arale the lead character or not.

What proof do you have to back up your statement? You can't just say that Claymore is the first-ever Shonen Jump title with a lead female without doing a little research.
It's stuff like this that will eventually get you banned from the Encyclopedia. Next time, provide a legitimate source when you post such statements.

Riyousha, you need to submit source info, or an explanation about how/where you got the information. Or, if its your own conclusion, how you came to it.
When we verify data submitted to the encyclopedia we use this info. If its blank, we just set it to false, because there's no way for us to verify.
In the case of Shonen Jump and female leads, both Cat's Eye and Shadow Lady were published before Claymore and had female leads. I'm certain there are others too.
