I'm reading it right now along with XXXHOLiC and I think it's pretty good. However, I like XXXHOLiC more. If you want my suggestion, I would definitely recommend it along with XXXHOLiC but give the first volume a try before you buy it just in case you don't end up liking it.
Also, stay FAR away from the anime. It does no justice to the manga at all and is quite a borefest. It's plagued with poor animation, boring action and fighting sequences, bad camera work, mediocre voice acting, boring storyboards, and poor use of the music. All of this, however, has been fixed in the movie. (It's a shame they didn't change the staff for the second season) I think Bee Train along with Xebec should just stick with their own productions instead of adapting mangas since they suck at it.

I have both Tsubasa & XXXholic and have enjoyed them both very well! I also have the Tsubasa anime **cough bootleg cough** and I don't think that it was all bad as radical ed may have let you to believe. Yes, in some places it dragged a bit but I didn't find myself nitpicking over every little thing. It kept me suitably entertained. Which is the whole point I guess.
But, definately, read the first vols. of each before you go on a spending frenzy.
Also, semi-current rumor has it that the Tusbasa anime might be released in the U.S. late this year, early next. Keep an eye on ANN's homepage for the announcement.
Hope you enjoy!

Well, everything I said is true for the first 10 episodes at least. Even though being entertaining is more important than being faithful to the original, being faithful is still very important. I didn't find the Tsubasa Chronicles anime all that entertaining since it was just a boring re-iteration of the manga more or less. Though I did enjoy the first episode, it was mainly because it was a first time experience. Then, everything fell from there.

The anime wasn't quite that faithful. If you remember when they were with Chun Hyang, Arashi and Sorata were there. They weren't there in the manga nor was Sakura possesed by Chun Hyang's mother. But now I'm being a bit nitpicky.
Juanizzle_88, I still think you will enjoy both. Of course, that's really up for you to decide.
I'm looking forward to reading the next volume and seeing the second season and what happens there...several unanswered questions to be answered...What fun, what fun!

Whether you like Tsubasa or not depends on how obessesive you are with the CCS coupling Sakura x Shaoran. If you hated that couple, you probably wouldn't like Tsubasa all that much, but if you liked it at least a little bit, it'll probably be just right for you, since Sakura x Shaoran is a big focus of the series. The first two volumes start off a little dull and predictable but it really starts to pick up around the third volume with the whole Chun Hyang arc. I really thought the story about Chun Hyang and her mother was a sad one and the battles really start to get exiciting in this arc, but my favorite arc so far is definetly the Outo arc. That was probably the most entertaining arc I've read so far with all the monster slaying and the subplot involving Seishirou after Sakura's feathers. The manga itself is worth reading just for the scene where Sakura and Shaoran get drunk alone. That scene was so hiliarious that it's priceless. I've only read the first volume of XXXholic and it was decent but a little too episodic for my tastes and Watanuki's constant whining got on my nerves. I still probably will read the rest of it simply because I'm a diehard Clamp fan but it's not on my high priority list at the moment.

They did that? That's pretty ridiculous and unnecessary if you ask me. Everything the manga layed out was fine and didn't need extra baggage like that. Well, I'm glad I stopped after they left the Hanshin Republic. I would not like to know what other stupid things they did to the anime.

I personally didn't like Tsubasa. I had read up to number 7 and started to get pretty bored. The drawing in the novel was all the same and the backgrounds didn't change all that much (a lot of dark thick lines). I like a lot of Clamp's works but could never get into this story that much. This story I think just dragged on and on about the feathers, even though that is what the story is based on, I could only take so much of that. Maybe other people can, but I can't.

Yes, I read both it and XxxHolic. It's an exaggeration to say that all of CLAMP's characters are in there. There are quite a few characters (other-dimension look-a-likes, and not the very same characters) who have small parts to play, and yet more that have cameos or appear in the background, but of the main characters: Sakura, Syaoran, Fai, Kurogane, and Mokona Modoki... Fai and Kurogane are completely original characters (and good ones too).
Since the focus of the story changes with every new world they visit, much of the story is hit-and-miss. But when it hits, it can hit on all cylinders. Like some others on this thread, I enjoyed the first few volumes, but a particular world (in my case, Jade) suddenly peaked my interest, and I really got interested.
Also remember that Tsubasa falls squarely into the Shonen category. Themes of friendship and determination are very strong. If you're looking for more complicated themes, the seinen manga, XxxHolic may be more up your alley.
