What's the most interesting one you've seen?

I saw one while I was in Japan where this girl(?) was hugging this guy from behind, the only thing about this girl was she had no head Shocked Talk about a wake up call. And this guy's got blood drippin all over him and he's not even flinching. If you think there's bad stuff out there, then you oughta check out the raw stuff in Japan, man.

I like most of the covers for Bleach. Just the idea of having one character in front of a plain white background is interesting and I haven't found another series that has done the same.

A cover topic and we don't get to see no cover. BORING.

Fruits Basket and Hikaru no Go are close enough without stealing the style.

I like some of the Mushishi covers... Especially the second one, with Ginko handing a scroll covered in plants to the viewer. The use of watercolor coupled with the imagery is just very beautiful.

There are a lot of manga covers that catch my eye, but Alichino stood out particularly. It wasn't that the poses or characters were especially interesting, but the art style happened to catch my eye. I rarely see any art that is so detailed.
Bizenghast is an OEL, but it's got one of the coolest covers I've seen. The concept on the front cover of the girl (Dinah?) wearing a dress that looked like a cello and actually "playing" her dress was a much different idea than what I usually see.
Death Note's covers were all really cool. I find it amazing how the artist of Hikaru no Go could do such a sinister cover. It's too bad that the North American version doesn't have the removeable jackets; when you take them off in the Japanese version the volumes look like death notes.

Bleach is doing the exact same thing Houshin Engi did with its covers. The cover of the last volume (of HE) is great, and the covers for the new editions are just beautiful (the covers of each pair of volumes combine to form a larger picture).
Bleach also has nice covers too, but the most interesting is 8, mainly because its upside down lol.

I also liked the Bizenghast cover. It's a pretty unique idea, but kind of misleading. When I first saw it I thought it was about a girl who was a violin Confused

The cover for Lagoon Engine vol 3 is kinda funny by trying to look like an action figure package.

Yeah, volume 8 of Bleach always throws me for a loop with its upside down pic.

Yuu Watase's covers for Alice 19th really showed her talent off. They were very well done, beautiful, and unique.

I bought Your and My Secret just because the cover looked nice and simple, compared to all the other busy titles. The story synopsis wasn't very promising. Now it's one of my favorites titles.

i like the Blade of the Immortal covers. They are painted rather than drawn. very classy.

I also like the Gunslinger Girl covers. They do the whole "one character with a blank background thing" but they all have a young girl holding a different firearm. kind of different.

I like the covers for Alice 19th. It took me three volumes before I noticed that the person on the cover had their name woven at the top of the frame surrounding them.

I also liked the Ceres covers.

Quick question. Are most of the manga covers these days the same as the Japanese release or are they changed when released in the States?

Yeah, I didn't notice that either until very late.

A lot of the times they are changed, though lately they seem to be keeping more the same than not. I know for example the Alice 19th covers were slightly changed: in the Japanese release, they are mostly white instead of mostly grey. Also, for the series MARS, the same art seems to be used for all the covers in all languages, but which picture goes with which volume is not consistent.

I am glad to see them keeping some though, like Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden's covers are the same (it's too bad the Suzaku/Seiryuu covers were changed, because the Genbu ones actually echo that design, only the SS arc didn't have characters outside the frame, as Watase mentions in one of her sidebars for Genbu).

The ones where I've seen both the Japanese and English versions of the covers they were the same.

I reckon that the cover of xxxHOLiC is pretty interesting.

The cover of each volume usually has the characters yuko and Watanuki on it wearing vibrant and colourful religious clothing and decorations around them.

The colouring is very enticing and the style of drawing is wonderful and beautifully done.

Heres an example:

and heres another example without the title:

When I picked up Battle Royale Vol.1, I didn't really pay attention the the cover. With a glance, it looked like 5 different characters on the cover. It wasn't until lately that i decided to re-read all 14 volumes that have been released that I realized the true significance of the cover. It's actually Shuya's transformation due to the game. It doesn't have any flashy colors, it's just a simple looking cover, yet it's the one that will stay in my mind forever. Makes you really appreciate art in how it can convey a message.

There's an alternate cover for Saiyuki Reload #6 that amuses me. Instead of having the main four characters on the cover as always, you've got Hazel and Gato. Gato's kneeling next to Hazel, who's looking smug as ever, wearing a suit and this weird, fur-lined cape-thing. The back cover has the main four characters GLARING. ...except for Hakkai, who's holding a gun. ^^;
