Greetings Anime Fans!!!
I just wanted to say happy birthday to Anime News Network. Way back in late 2000 I was a recent graduate from the School of Visual Arts. I had a degree in Animation with no job and I was trying to squeek back into the anime scene. I decided to look at the Anime News Network. I liked what I saw and I contact George Philips. I told him my experiences in the field of animation and my interest in Anime. it took some time, but I managed to write some interesting topics on Anime (ie: Is Anime Boring? and Fat Men + Sailor Suits = X_X).
What I am very proud of is the the fact that George and the staff of ANN let me write a column right after 9-11. I lived in Brooklyn and I was about to work for my friend's convention. Since 9-11 i had to leave NYC and move back home to Dayton, OH. It is very difficult to do anything prior to the attacks, but I am bouncing back. I am now trying to think of stories that will be better than my previous columns.
5 years is a great landmark for Anime News Network. ANN is a great independent source of news for anime fans around the world. What will happen to Anime in another five years. I haven't got a clue. My guess ANN will be there covering the newest thing in Anime.
Happy Birthday and Congratulations!!!

How cool. Happy B-day ANN! Yes, I do realize I'm a day late.
Your post inspired me, I'm also planning to have a career related to anime someday. Hopefully someone will hire me after I graduate. ^^;

Thanks,
i like to help people. Well if you want to go into anime. You need to take classes in japanese, draw alot of figure drawing (ie. poses), and give up many sleepless nights doing your work.
Just remember 24 frames equals 1 second of animation.
GAMBATE!!!!

Somehow the newly found facts that 24 frames equal 1 sec. made me queasy. I've been drawing since 3rd grade, now in 10th, so drawing people isn't quite a problem for me now. I still suck at drawing backgrounds stuff like trees, building, and such. But thanks for the information.
