Okay first things first. Yes I have a VHS anime collection. A okay sized on I guess you know like 30 cassettes before I moved over to DVD. Anyway recently I decided to clean up my entertainment center, and place all my media on a bookshelf. It was well past time. So all of the sudden I have access all these VHS crammed in the back. I think to myself boy I really should watch these again. Heck I cannot even remember what some of these were about. Like watching a brand new movie.
So over the past week I have been unsleeving a title and spending some time with what got me into anime. For the most part its been kind of retro fun. Seeing the old visual styles and so forth. Anyway last night I got a shock. I pulled out wicked city god I think I watched this one all of 2 times. Needless to say I was not ready for what I would find. Now I know why I watched it all of like 2 times. Here I am watching this old VHS thinking wait a minute something is not right here. 1 hard core sex scene then another, and finally oh my god she is getting raped by tentacles. What the this is a hentai. This movie may have left emotional scars on my younger self. Was the movie bad no once you fast forward through the twisted stuff. Which adds up to 20 minutes. I sit there thinking to myself when I bought this movie. I check the cover and sure enough the description is pretty honest, and the rateing is color coated mature. Thats right no real rateing just a suggestion of mature. So anyway I come to the conclusion that this is obviously one of the oldest titles I have. Which is all likelihood means, I bought this before I was 18. I also remember what store I bought it at too. Way to go On Cue you sold me my first pornography. The title is pretty obviously pornographic, and the story is pretty much has one goal to get the main characters into sexual situations. I flipped out when I saw the oral rape seen. Anyway I thought my god how often has this happened in the past to other anime fans. How many times have you guys bought a anime thinking maybe racey and find out its full blown hentai. I do not know if this kind of thing can happen anymore. Seeing as the video was not even rated. I also wonder what effect this had on the anime culture. Think about it this movie was on the shelf right next to things like dragonball, and it had no rateing at all. So you know 11 year old kids could have bought it walked home flipped it in and got hardcore sex. I can see little billy calling up jack and jill to come check out this movie he got. Anyway its an interesting thing to discover. If anybody happens to come across this movie Wicked City on a anime shelf motion the clerk over and tell him where it really belongs. I feal so dirty I own hentai, and worse yet I bought it underage. |

They used to give it on cable alot. I only saw a little bit. I was disturbed by the woman whose crotch had fangs and started shooting spider webs.

Ya I accedently saw an eppisode of the anime you are talking about (la Blue Girl right?). I try to find title that look interesting but I also try to find titles that don't look too kiddy'ish so M rating is not out of the question. I have found some of my favorites where M so I wouldn't let you get to put off by something like this.

I beleive wicked city is a stand alone anime movie. Anyway the point is somehow this snuck by the censors. This movie was just hardcore smut, and exceeds the standards for what a child should actually be able to buy.
After all should a 11 year old be able to go to a store and buy debbie does dallas. A mature rateing is definately not an enforceable rateing. In other words its not like a NC17 or X rateing. Where the clerk would have to say no to certain customers buying the product. I highly recommend everyone take a minute and peruse the rateings on your anime. Even on my DVDs seeing true rateings is hard to find. I found all sorts of cute things. I only found a couple that seem to have actually bothered to get a real rateing. |
