I'm really disappointed with this ending, too... It felt rushed and as if the creators didn't have a clear vision as to how they were going to end the whole thing. There are no answers (except Jagara's identity and her motives, which are kinda cliched), nothing is explained (Cheza's role in the whole Paradise business, Hige's collar, etc.), and more mysteries are brought up. Who's Darcia and what is that orb thingie he showed to Kiba? Also, Cheza's supposed to be dead... Darcia himself said in one of the earlier episodes that she would die at the next full moon. And some characters were kinda OOC, too (I mean, come on, there's a fight and Tsume doesn't join in?).
And anyway, what kind of ending is this, with half of the characters trapped in a castle/town that's collapsing and the other half leaving for god knows where? (OK, for Paradise, but, how and... eh, like, what the hell is going on?)

Well, until this last episode Kiba was supposed to be the legendary chosen one... yet, in this episode, he didn't really do anything aside from being cool. Darcia said he was also one of the chosen, but there's no explanation as to why is he a chosen one, how was he chosen and by whom... (with Kiba it's kinda easy, he was chosen by Cheza. But all Darcia was trying to do was to kill wolves and use Cheza to his own purposes... well, that is, until he disappeared from the series to appear out of nowhere in ep 25...)
Anyway, I'm really sad that this series that could easily be one of the best series in the last couple of years got such a lame ending. My only hope is those 4 more episodes that will come out as OAVs. Maybe those will clear things up.

Episode 26 is NOT the end of the series. This is a 30 episode series. This is not just a guess, this is what BANDAI said at AX2003.

This is the end of the TV series (episode 26 even had "arigatou gozaimashita" at the end)... the remaining 4 episodes will only come out on DVD (as far as I know). Also, there are speculations as to when in the story will those four episodes take place. There's a glaring glitch in story continuity between episodes 20-21, it seems that at least one episode is missing from there... Anyway, I really hope those 4 episodes will be the real end of the story, because Wolf's Rain deserves much more than this.
Of course, if Bandai said that those 4 episodes will continue where 26 left off, then I'm very happy and if this is the case, please ignore everything bad I said about episode 26. (I don't live in the US, so I don't get these news first-hand from the production companies.)
