So it's like an MMO?
M'eh...
Would prefer a cool single player open world game, like what Ubisoft is doing with Watch Dogs and even the Assassin's Creed games.
A fully explorable future Tokyo with lots of cool investigative and action missions using all Section 9 members.

We'll see what happens, but I'm not expecting much.

every time i see something on GITS i get excited thinking its a new anime/movie but then my excitement is crashes down to earth when i find out its a pointless phone app, new t-shirt line or stuff like that. we've been getting quite a bit of little things of GITS like this, i just hope this eventually leads to an anime project of some sort down the line.

Ghost in the Shell just can't seem to get a decent licensed video game, can it? I mean, there was the Fuchikoma-driver for the PS1 years ago, but since then nothing interesting has come out, and this project sure won't buck the trend. At least there have been plenty of GitS-inspired games that are pretty good (NeoTokyo, Oni, Deus Ex, etc.)

That's because it's in the hands of sub par developers like BanDai who owned the rights to it and would sell anything with the name stamped on it.
One hopes Ubisoft or heck Konami's Kojima Productions get ahold of it. Heck even Rocksteady who make Arkham City could do something cool.

Yet another reason to hope (vainly, I'm sure) that Spielberg's American remake someday comes to fruition. An American big-budget SF movie would almost certainly get a videogame to go along with it, and I'm sure plenty of quality American game companies would jump at the chance to play around with such an iconic and interesting setting.
