A Japanese console is more popular in Japan and a United States console is more popular in the US? Stop the presses! |

I wonder if the Japanese version needs that hours-long update? If not that could easily explain why. Well, that and the faster and more reliable internet connections available.

Nintendo fans can spin all they want. But the fact of the matter is, VITA's launch exactly a year ago was somehow better executed.
321,000 in 48 hours December 17-19,2011. Let that sink in. Vita's launch sold more during the same period. |

According to Nintendo, the 308,000 units sold is the entire initial offering, so it could not have sold more regardless.

I am enjoying my Wii-U very nicely. Even though I had money for the better version, I got the basic because white is a better color for the Wii I find.

Well the PS3 still sells quite well worldwide being a Japanese console as well. Can't really say Nintendo is not popular in the West, they still make lots of money, but not clearly as much as in Japan. [the 360 completely failed in Japan though aha] |

But look what happened to it afterwards... The Vita also had far more stock available for its Japanese launch, since it launched there 2 months before the rest of the world. Whereas the Wii U's initial sales have been hobbled by the fact that all the stock they have has to be split between Japan, America, Europe and Australia (and miscellaneous other places) since it launched globally withing the space of 20 days. |

Big deal. All the wii is good for is an emulator. I would rather play bubble bobble than call of duty any day.

Since when is CoD a Wii oriented game? That franchise is better known on the 360.

Sorry. I should have made my post more understandable.
My comment about bubble bobble/call of duty was commentary about how I feel about games in general. The newest game that has held my interest was God of War 3. I just prefer games from the 8 bit and 16 bit era. IMO the game play is just better and the challenges greater. Those games just hold my interest more and are plain just more fun to play than anything I have seen from the PS3 and Xbox. I digress though. |

Have you ever actually PLAYED a current-gen game are you simply bloviating like most "old gamers"?
God the "BACK IN MUH DAY WE ONLY HAD TWO BUTTONS AND WE LIKED IT" gamers can be insufferable. |

Hey, Wii U still sold 400,000 that launch week in the US. So, not bad. And ever wonder why they released it in the US first, then Europe, before Japan......... Obviously they want to promote it............ Though it seems some Japanese are having the same slow load time issues as some in the West: "Japanese Woman’s Rage at Slow Wii U Sends out Ripples of Doubt about Nintendo’s Newest Console" The perils of 1st-gen................ |
