My first question is to the ANN Moderators, can we talk about The Boondocks in this forum? If no, then I'm sorry I posted this but I know previous Boondock posts have been created, a couple by me, and havn't been locked.

Now back to the topic. Did you guys see Friday Night Fix/Sundays new episode? That was some of the best animation I have ever seen, whether people consider this an anime or not, the fight scenes were beautifully choreographed and the voice acting kicks ass. From the beginning scene with the Riley and Huey fight. The swords, fists, guns, and even furniture. The fight between Bushido Brown and Huey was even better. What did you guys think about it?

People talked about Naruto months before it was released and this series, atleast IMO, is far superior. Yet only 1 topic was posted. Does anyone know the TV ratings for these 2 shows. I know the ratings don't speak for all households but I'm still curious. I don't mean "Rated TV-14" but the other ratings. Like how many viewers watched.

Don't worry, we can talk about the Boondocks here. I agree, that was kick ass episode. I can't beleive that they got Sam Jackson to do another episode as Rummy. The fight scenes were awesome but I felt like they were out of place. What was the deal with it? Was this all some kind of crazy delusion of Huey? I also felt that John Witherspoon didn't get enough air time but other than that, it was a mighty good episode.

This weeks Boondocks was hilarious. The fight scenes were out of place a bit, and Huey acting like a ninja is weird. Rest was polished and enjoyable.

Yeah, I've seen it two days ahead on adult swim's friday night fix. I liked the scene where the robber/gangters get Oprah but when they did got her, it wasn't her.

I asked this last week and it got deleted, so, to all adminatstrators, is this okay now?

I didn't see the episode but I saw a preview for it and during a fight scene some old ladies are sitting at a table and one of them looks ALOT like Fullmetal Alchemist's Dante. Anyone agree?

Japanimation == anime. anime != animation. In other words anime is short for animated shows made in Japan.

But enough of my rule-breaking; that was a good show.

That had to be the funnniest thing on television last week (although i missed that Dave Chappelle interview that was on darn it!!) But yea, the whole kidnaping Maya Angelo was genius and Charlie Murphy and Samuel Jackson work great together even if only as voice actors. However in my opnion I agree that the Boondocks is much better than Naruto, even if you want to argue on nothing but V.A. However I'm not entirely sure we can talk about it here since every passionately agrees that its not anime. Anime or not, Boondocks outshine Naruto inevery category in my opinion. Plus after that episode, I'm 100% sure that Huey could easily kick Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakishi's ass simultaneously.

That was a great episode, and the fight scenes were beautiful, although some of the sequences in this season of JLU were better (in Grude Match and Partiot Act).

I don't care if it's not "anime," but it's drawn like/similar to "anime" enough where one could compare it to "anime." Obviously the show's been inspired by a lot of "anime," so I think it ought to be allowed on here.

One thing's for sure: this animated series is up to snuff with a lot of the "anime" out there, and that really says something (maybe that America is beginning to take animated mediums more seriously?).

Another thing's for maybe: I'm getting this series on dvd when it comes out before I get another "anime" title.

This was, indeed, the most anime-inspired of them all. And Yes, Huey can kick Naruto and even Mugen's ass!

BTW: what were the songs used in that episode? I really loved them; and would love to know which albums they appear on.

Wait...The Boondocks is an anime? I don't think so, and if I'm not mistaken, the show is based off a newspaper comic of the same name.

What was so weird of Huey acting like a ninja? Cause he was black? lol

I don't think anyone in this topic said it was anime but the animation and VA is superior than many animes. RezSav was just stating how in Japan, everything that is animated, is considered Anime. So in Japan, The Boondocks would be called Anime.

I too will be looking forward to this DVD release so I can show it to everyone who has been missing out on this awesome series. The Martin Luther King Jr. episode was quite educational and dissed the urban black cultures who said "nigga" a lot. Although they say "Nigga" in just about every sentence, it speaks of how some of the black men are holding their race back a couple of years.

Would everyone agree it can now me mentioned in the likes of Family Guy? But thats another topic... for later like when the first season ends.

I loved the MLK episode since it satired the current urban black culture which was depicted in the episode gangsta and religous rich folks.. I'll be really happy to see it on DVD, uncut with the s-words and f-bombs intact. (Unless they bleeped the words intentionally)

I like those words bleeped out. I think it's more comedic for some reason. I thought Chappelle Show was funnier with the bleeps than without.

No, but we've allowed discussion on Teen Titans, Totally Spies, Aeon Flux, Disney, Pixar, and many popular video games, none of which qualify as anime, either. Unless another mod feels otherwise, discussion of Boondocks is fine by me on the basis of it being "close enough."
