Yet I don't think it really warrants to be included in the list of genres in that thread because of how overly narrow it is. Is requesting for anime/manga of a specific category of series breaking the rules in this context?
Astarotte's Toy, PapaKiki, Tiger and Bunny, and Bunny Drop, I've grown quite fond of single fathers. Thanks PS - what I'm looking for is a series with a single father protagonist. Not sure if this would fit the "romance" subset even though most series with this element do happen to have some level of romance in them." Astarotte's Toy", "Listen to me Girls, I am your Father!", "Tiger and Bunny", and "Bunny Drop", I've grown quite fond of single fathers. PPS - huh, looks like it's okay to make a recommendations thread.

You'll need to tell us more about the genre first. Otherwise, look in the sticky thread, and see which pre existing genre comes close. For example, if you wanted a certain kind of romance, it would be OK to ask in the romance thread for a non high school romance with a happy ending, as that's a subset of the romance genre. If you're really unsure, PM a mod (Key, Keonyn, Tony K) and they'll help you.

oops, sorry, forgot to mention it.
I'm looking for a series where the protagonist is a single father. As for preference, it'd be nice if there's some romance in it. Even better if it's an ecchi series. Ever since Astarotte's Toy, PapaKiki, Tiger and Bunny, and Bunny Drop, I've grown quite fond of single fathers. Even my favourite character is a shining example of one. |

Uh...
Usagi (Bunny) Drop is a good choice, thought it's not about a 'father', it is about a single guy raising a child. In the same vein, look at Aishiteruze Baby, which is about a teen guy becoming (essentially) the caretaker of a small child. There's also...Kurenai? This one is a super-stretch, as there's combat and some weird spoiler[ incestuous plot], but the characters and writing is really good and it does have themes of 'guy raising kid alone'. You might include Mitsudomoe although he is not really the male lead, the single father of the triplets main characters does have a large part.
Shukufuku no Campanella has the male lead pick up a mysterious young girl who calls the main character "Papa", there is ecchi in there too, if that was what you were looking for. There is Beelzebub which has a teen guy look after the son of Saten, though I stopped watching that after a while. And if you want stretch it maybe a bit, the show Potemayo has kind of a father relationship. |

You could try Solty Rei. It stars a grumpy mean bounty hunter who suddenly ends up as the legal guardian of a cute android girl with amazing abilities while he tries to collect bounties on dangerous criminals in a world where cyborgs are normal.
Then there is Zone of Enders: Dolores where a middle aged father tries to reconnect with his estranged adult children. Things get complicated when he ends up with a top secret mecha that some ruthless shady organization wants to get back and in the ensuing chaos the entire family ends up being framed for terrorism and murder. They have to go on the run from the Earth and Mars governments as well as the shady organization. Not one to be easily daunted, the father is determined to make it through this using his wits and a book on fatherhood from a best selling author. |

There's Aka-chan to Boku as well, where the story centres around a single father of 2 boys. I'm not sure how easy it is to find though.

one series which is not the main protagonist but an integral part of the story line would be InitialD the dad plays a big part in the development of the protagonists interest.

Listen to Me Girls, I'm Your Father! sounds like it fits your request very well. A young man (college student) becomes the caretaker of 3 girls ages 3, 10 and 14. There's quite a bit of romance and some fanservice too.

Yeah I watched those two already. Astarotte's Toy is exactly what I was looking for, and I was trying to find as many series that is as close to this series as possible. I simply love Naoya. I don't expect many series to be as crazy as this though. I also already watched Bunny Drop. Sorry I wasn't so clear in the opening post. This thread originally started off as a thread ASKING whether it would be against the rules to make a recommendation thread based on this subject. Turns out a mod turned it into just that. One that fits the bill is Coyote Ragtime Show, which revolves around a master criminal who breaks out of prison and tries to make amends with his adopted daughter, by helping her find the inheritance her real father left for her.
I haven't seen it, but Aishiteruze Baby sounds like it qualifies for the topic. It's about a high playboy who gets saddled with his cousin's little girl and has to take care of her. |

I know this is a manga but Yotsuba&! has a great father- daughter relationship, he's one of the protaganists and he's single too. (Not to menchion pretty good looking as well!
 He's got two other friends who also look after Yotsuba and that's pretty interesting considering she hates one of them. But it's a light hearted comedy that is too freakin' cute!!!
Ok I'll obey the rules now, I just had to post that. Potemayo's a pretty funny one, this kid Sunao looks after Potemayo as his own kid even though he's in Middle School, there's that relationship and then there's the relationship with his father which is Hilarious! Check both out when you've got the time!

Thanks! The first one sounds okay I guess. But the second one sounds like it has hilarious potentials!
Holy hell how can I forget about Yotsuba?! I loved the series, but one day I had to study for exams. And once they were over I completely forgot about this series. T
