Well, at least sell Innocence to Manga Entertainment so they can add the dub. I want to see this movie, but I want to have a dub for it.

That link to the Hollywood Reporter doesn't work (the site is also subscription). However, here are a few links on the same topic:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060109/media_nm/media_dreamworks_soros_dc_1 http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=aIAjFZHD93cM http://cinematical.com/2006/01/09/dreamworks-library-to-soros/ My quesiton is does Dreamworks actually own a piece of these movies or did they licence them from their original production companies? The reason I'm wondering is that if they just licenced the films then would that mean the films would be part of this sale or would they original production companies have the option to buy back their films and/or would the films revert back to the original production companies? [I know - the last question is pretty hard to find out because you'd have to read the contracts between Go Fish and the original production companies and I doubt anyone at this board has that sort of access to this type of stuff, so no, I'm not expecting a answer to that one ] Anyway, following Millenium Actress and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence futures is going to be interesting. Addtion - After reading the abouve I went to myself "oh duh - why don't I just go look up that info off IMDB - not that IMDB always have the correct info but it's better than nothing" So I looked up Ghost in the Shell 2 and and according to it's listing on IMDB there Dreamsworks isn't listed as a producer. The producers listed are Bandai Visual Co. Ltd., Buena Vista Home Entertainment (co-production), DENTSU Music And Entertainment Inc., Kodansha Ltd., Production I.G., Studio Ghibli (co-production). With Millennium Actress, the producers were Bandai Visual Co. Ltd., Chiyoko Commitee, Genco Inc., Kadokawa Shoten Publishing Co. Ltd., WoWow Inc. IMO, when it comes to Ghost in the Shell 2, if Buena Vista's involved then the chances of this film having a contract with Dreamworks that will defaults back to the original producers in the event of any sale just went up (no idea what to make of the situation with Millennium Actress, however). No idea who the film rights might default back to but it seems to me that things may not be cut and dried over these two films futures. |

My only gripe with the buy-out is that Casshern gets delayed once again, and I don't feel like importing. As for MA, since Madhouse produced it, they could always sell it through Urban Vision.

It definitely will be, so I just hope this sort of thing doesn't destroy my chances of seeing a 10-foot-wide Chiyoko running around in the near future ...And before I make a complete fool of myself, it hasn't already been in theaters this side of the shore, has it? Or have I just been in my own little world this long? Tune in next time, same bat time... |

It depends on the wording license. The rights might revert back, or they might go with the catalogue, and without first hand knowledge of the licensing details, that's about as far as any speculation can go. My guess is that they'll revert, but who knows. |

Millenium Actress? Yeah, it's already been in theatres. It was a Christmas release 2002, IIRC. |
