Where is the borderline between "mature" and "adults only"? How are to be considered anime/mangas with quite graphic sexual scenes, but that never depict the actual pelvis? (i.e. Haru yo, Koi! and Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa)
Here's a page from Haru yo, Koi to make you understand what I mean: not and I repeat NOT safe for work |

That's a very bordeline and the decision would be based on whether the manga in question was full of that kind of content, or if it was only a few pages.
Based on that page only, I'd say AO. Edit: I dug up the chapter in questin, definitely AO. -t |

thanks for the info. While you're at it, could you set the rating for HYK? (a sticked thread says to file an Error Report, but I can't file anything if there's no age rating to begin with...)

<sigh> I read some more, and I'm not 100% sure.
I'm going to talk it over with Dan. -t |

'kay... whatever you decide, you should apply your decision to Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa, too. It's pretty much the same.
Sample pic (again, NSFW) A sticked thread that exactly states what every age rating means, and how to suggest one, would be really appreciated. [EDIT]Just a thought... if you decide for Adults only, it's extremely important that you find a way to distinguish them from hentais... since the comparision is quite grotesque. I'd suggest introducing three new genres: Erotic: sex is central, but the story behind it plays a critical role Ecchi: pantyshots, nude breasts, etc. - but you'll never take it seriously Hentai: porn, gratuitous sex scenes |

Based on the pics, I declare this title AO.

Even if the shown pic isn't any more hardcore than Kirara, also by Yui, rated Teen? I mean, it is serialized in Ultra Jump, so it can't be that bad.

based on those pics, don't think it takes a rocket scientist to declare it adults only |

based on that stream of thought, anatomy books are AO too, because they depict genitalia (and in a extremely explicit, detailed and photorealistic way, too). No one should set a rating based on a single image. the context is critical, and you can't grab the context if you don't read/see at least 2-3 chapters/episodes. Lolotakun: I didn't read Kirara, but Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa was rated teen too before. But there's no way it could be possibly teen. That was clearly a mistake made by someone who only read the first chapter or so. I myself would vote for "mature". Since all this talk is about morale, and it's commonly accepted that anime/mangas with insane amount of blood should be rated mature instead of AO (Elfen Lied.... 24 frags in 5 minutes or End of Evangelion... a.k.a. Evisceration 101 ) - and I definitely agree with that - I think that a 16 years old guy can safely read those. Will he get a boner? Probably. Will he hide them from his parents? Probably, too. Will he hide mangas showing decapitated heads served in soupplates full of human blood? Hardly. But that's just because this is an hypocrit society |

Right now, I'm tempted to slap an AO rating on Gantz, as an episode or two depicts graphic scenes of rape/sex. Anyone care to debate on this?

I haven't read it, so I can't judge, but of course rape is far different than normal sex. Point is, it's not what you draw, but what you represent. You can draw a full nude and rate it teen, simply because it's just a woman/man standing there, and you can draw a rape scene where you can't see absolutely anything but it may still be shockingly violent - because of the actions, the way it's presented, maybe because it involves a character that you've learned to feel for in the previous 20 episodes, etc. And obviously - just to remain in the rape example - one should also evaluate the moral contents: is it depicted as bad or acceptable? is the intent to shock the reader with horror, or to make him horny? does the victim enjoy it? Is the rapist a villain or the protagonist? As you see, there are so many variables. |

No. Let's make it clear: "Adults Only" is for PORN! Masturbatory material. Stuff where a major component is to see people "getting it on". Being "shocking" or "morally reprehensible" does not make something porn. In the case of Gantz it should be pretty obvious it's a "Mature" rating. |

Already done. Both titles have been rated AO. |

Since, as dan said, AO is exclusively for hentais, I can't agree with that. Comparing those titles to hentais is -to say the least- offensive. It's like saying that 9 1/2 weeks, Eyes Wide Shut, and Almodovar's movies are PORN. jeez. |
