Bleach Epsiodes Cropped by Viz?

I just read on a forum that some of the most recent Boxset's for Bleach from Viz are having the Widescreen image cropped to 4x3!?

Bleach went widescreen on episode 166 but apparently Viz has decided to continue with 4x3 by cropping the widescreen episodes from what I've read.

I don't own the sets in question to know if this is the case so i thought i would ask if it was true or not?

If it is why haven't people been crying foul about it, because i think its terrible they would do that, cropping 4x3 to make widescreen is nowhere near as bad as the reverse. The reverse is unforgivable. The former more annoying.

In any case cropping is retarded.

So yeah is this True, Have Viz been cropping Bleach in their latest boxsets. In 2012 no less!?!?

I don't know about the DVDs, but what's airing on Adult Swim isn't in widescreen.

They're saving the uncropped ones for exclusive blu-ray releases. Wink

Did bleach really go widescreen, or did they just crop it wide screen for broadcast? I have the sets but it doesn't look like they have been cropped, nothing being cut off or anything like that....

Also if you go to thetvdb and look at the episode previews for EP that haven't yet been realsed in the states some of them are 4:3.... which leads me to believe its naturally like that, and that some networks for live broadcast just cropped it to make it look like widescreen.

the first 3 or 4 seasons were 4:3
then the HD revolution came and they went widescreen sometime around the aizen arancar arc stuff
they are zoom and crop sometimes if you watch the older episodes on TV
that may not be done by viz though - television stations are notorious for doing that on their own
