I've read the Dao of Dragonball website, it's pretty cool and this book seems interesting.

Can we please stop the "OVER 9000" meme?
It was funny for exactly a year. And that was years ago.
Now it's just f***ing stupid. This and "I'm jumping onto White Base" has got to stop.
Also, "the inner psychology of Goku and Vegeta"? Here's a free version for you.
Goku: GOTTA FIGHT STRONG GUYS I'M HUNGRY NOW OH LOOK A SHINY OBJECT
Vegeta: I HATE KAKKAROT HAVE TO GET STRONGER THAN KAKKAROT, OOPS GUESS I'M NOT, KAKKAROT YOU ARE NUMBAH WAN
There. Just saved you money on the book.

No it isn't.
This book proves that no matter what, Dragon ball's fandom will remain heavily active for atleast over 9000 years.

Apparently some people just don't want to let go of certain memes.

Like how Futurama is with the Fry and Zoidberg memes in their commercials.

You'll just have to buy the book.
I'm totally sick of the meme too. And I was ready to write this book off as a cheap gimmick. But after reading the guy's bio, it sounds like it could actually be pretty cool. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on DBZ lore, so I'd be interested to hear what this guy has to say.

It seems like its targeting the people who still think that meme is funny or interesting. In that way it could be used as a tool to inject a little knowledge into someone who was looking for a cheap laugh or perhaps was only mildly interested to start with.
And penguintruth I don't think you're giving the guy enough credit. I've spoken to him on several occasions and he is a very knowledgeable guy and a dedicated Dragon Ball fan. He presents himself as a neutral passive observer of any and all controversies or non-controversies involving the Dragon Ball fan community. I'm interested in the book. I probably already know everything he can share about the topic but its still interesting to see what other folks are learning about the things I'm interested in.

Nobody needs an entire book to explain the pyschology of DBZ characters.
And people say I overanalyze it.
What's next, a documentary of the sexual predilictions of The Flintstones?

I think it would be completely hilarious if this book somehow fails to sell more than 9,000 copies!

I'm sure a documentary can be done on the sexual prefilictions of The Flintstones. I can see some interesting parallels between the differences in modern media and culture today. I can see an analysis that enlightens the reader on the view of sex at the time and how it influenced the creation of the show. Or perhaps what children who grew up on the Flintstones took away from it and how it shaped their view.
The point is, there is more to discuss than just the title or a brief synopsis on the content of the book. I will agree that a psycological breakdown of two moderately one-dimensional characters doesn't sound that interesting to me, because I am capable of doing that on my own easily. But this book isn't for me. I do think it's a good idea and I have faith that the author wont waste readers time with a cheap capitalization of a tired meme. I actually think he cares a lot about what he writes and has a vested interest in exposing the under-appreciated and under-discussed side of this seminal work of animation history.

Seems pointless unless it's by the original mangaka, since it's just one guys headcanon. You might as well just read someone's tumblr blog and it'd be just as official.
