I think that it might be a little tricky to say. The site poll includes a lot of people who might only read the news articles and perhaps editorial content, but largely ignore the forums. The other poll has a small sample, but I have an impression that it reflects the active forum users more accurately as older than the general readership. |

Gender surveys are pretty complicated nowadays, as people get offended easily.
Retirement is the age you can leave your job and start getting money from the government. Over here (UK) you can continue working and get the money on the top of it, or simply opt to stop working. It's pretty balanced. Most people here only stop working if they have a disability. The most effective form of brainwashing known to mankind: life. |

Well, Lithuania isn't quite the other side of the world, but it is a long way from Pennsylvania. One of the frustrations of internet fora is that you often get to know and really like people that you'll almost certainly never have a chance to meet personally.
There are people for whom gender is not a straightforward a question with an answer that first into the standard boxes; probably more than you'd think or than realize it. I don't understand the concepts well myself, but I'd like to think that people don't keep adding letters to LGBT for kicks. (Although it, as is true of all initialisms, starts to look silly as it gets ungainly) Say, since we're on the subject, why not participate in my poll on a similar question see if the forums might differ from the general readership in the distribution of sex as they seem to for age. |

Meeting can be safe. Bring a friend along and arrange to meet somewhere very public. Preferably, inform another friend of who and where you are meeting (police can track IPs quite easily nowadays) Someone who'd propose to meet somewhere quiet should definitely get a red light on your radar. |
