I finally got around to watching volume 1-3 of Wolfs Rain. Couple of thoughts, I don't know if it's not my type but the opening song just does not seem to fit. Just a small thought I don't know if anyone else felt like that, but the closing song I really enjoyed. I thought it was one of the better one's in recent memory.
Back to the actual show, the first couple of episodes felt slow and didn't really get me into the story. But after meeting Lord Darica, I really felt that this story picks up and gets extremely interesting.
More so I wanted to learn about the wolfs' know their back story, why they think and what is driving them.
Did anyone else enjoy this series up to this point, and more importantly did that same enjoyment continue all the way to the end?
Till next time,

Delta Kiral

I thought it was an interesting series, up until spoiler[the last four episodes with the "Everybody-dies-lame-reset-button-ending" which I hated. If there's going to be character deaths make them mean something at least rather than just random pointless deaths. Especially since the series had such great characters, it just ruined the whole thing for me.] Evil or Very Mad

Well, if you liked FMA, then you'll probably like Wolf's Rain too (Both made by Bones am I right?). I feel they're both about the same thing, except Wolf's Rain takes itself a tad more serious.

The storyline is actually playen out rather fast and it's pretty complicated, if you really care about it moving slow or fast, I don't think you'll find it to move slow anyway.

I'm a tad obsessed with this show, but that's o.k.

I think you're right: the show would have been better off by starting with episode 3 (Bad Fellow), and have ep.s 1 and 2 blended in as a rocket start into the show. Not that W.R. is the most fast-paced series though; it tends to ease into everything. This is more of a drama, as opposed to action. It still has elements of humor and other things, it just doesn't bring those forward as much as other traits. (i.e., Kiba, Tsume, Darcia, Jagara, (even Hubb and Cher?) bring out the dark side of the show, where only Hige and Toboe are left to balance it out with the lighter sides)

The wolves don't really have 'back stories' that are shown right away. They just seem to.....be there. I'm not sure if Bones did this on purpose, but it seems to tie into a Manifest Destiny kind of thing. Everyone has a purpose that has already been chosen by a higher being. That's also the only thing that I can think of regarding what drives them, but oh well. I still love the show to death, and recommend that you finish the series.

Wolf's Rain is one of my favourite anime and I love almost ever episode, especially the ending which I personally think was very well-done. The only thing I don't like really is the four recap episodes in the middle, because that was rather excessive. Though if you like character development, they still are somewhat worth the watch, and there is a little bit of new footage there too, especially in the last one, IIRC.

I don't quite see where you are coming from with the opening theme, but hey, whatever. I love Stray quite a bit (and it's a good way of finding out if you have a bootleg or not, since the Hong Kong subs often don't have it subbed in English correctly, which is blaringly obvious because it is in English Anime hyper) and they do stuff with the opening and the ending of the show which I thought was pretty cool, though you'll have to see that for yourself.

The first episode I think isn't the greatest though, it's a bit too action-based, thus giving the anime a real "shounen" feel, when it really isn't pure shounen as there is a LOT of character stuff. Though there is a fair amount of action too Anime hyper. It's just not the focus, usually.

Anyway, this is an anime I highly recommend, it only gets better as it goes.

I think the story line picks up more in the 2nd volume than the first, even though I loved ... almost every episode... spoiler[four review eppies on volume 4 Evil or Very Mad ] but, go along with the story and I think you'll enjoy it.

... and speaking of FMA, did Square-Enix produce it or animate it?

So did you enjoy the first 3 DVDs Deltakiral? I read your post and wasn´t quite sure if you did. But I´ve been looking to check out this series but everyone I meet is either a hardcore fan or someone who trully hated the series, they had all seen the complete series. So I was and I´ve been a little skeptical about picking up this series and wanted the opinion of someone who´s just recently starting watching it.

I´ve been hoping adult swim will re-air the series so I don´t have to pay $100 for it so does anyone have any information on if adult swim will air this series any time soon?

Um, the R1s don't have any subtitles for the OP/ED, though the fansubs do. That said, I'm glad I decided to buy the R1s for WR even though I had picked up the fansubs from a friend. The DVDs have beautiful video quality, and even better translations. (Specifically, Cheza does use a word meaning "this" / "this one" in Tapanese to refer to herself, while the version I had simplified it to "I.") And imo, the OP & ED fit the show quite well.

Everyone's mad about these recap episodes; I skipped all of disc 4, though I'll watch it eventually. Tomorrow night, I'll finally watch disc 7, and see this infamous ending that everyone is always talking about.

Well, make sure you have some tissues handy. I still cry when I see the ending. It was some pretty powerful stuff. Definitely my favorite ending to an anime series thusfar, although I haven't seen the ending to Fullmetal Alchemist yet.

Some of the Hong Kong bootlegs out there also sub the OP...and translate "stray" as "wander" or something like that. It's actually rather funny, and shows what happens when you translate English into Chinese back into English Anime hyper

The official release definitely has a very nice translation, I'm really glad they kept Cheza's use of "this one", which most of the fansubs didn't even do. And I also really think the dub was well done, good voices and acting and a very decent script too. I very much love the official DVD release.

What I meant by that was simply that I didn't think it was my favorite opening ever, but I could understand how others like it a lot. Yes my DVD are R1 from bandai with kiba plush, no more bootlegs for me. I do like the ending song, and I do really like the wolf running, and how it has them in a different environment each time.

Yea I actually glad that I had the chance to finally see part of this series (The dvds have been on my shelf forever) and can't wait to watch more once I find some time to do so. I wouldn't say that I am 'hardcore' about this series (unlike Monster) but I am really enjoying the story, and the world that is being portrayed. More so the music I found is very good (Except the OP "Stray") which for me is such a major plus to have. Not only that is very wrote and after the end of this last volume (3) I really want to know what going to happen to the wolfs' which is a very good thing, as I like a story that really draws you in.

Alright, fair enough. Everyone has their own tastes, after all.

I love Gravity very much too, especially with the changing seasons (though it took me far too long to realize that it was always changing Anime hyper). I am always impressed by how well Maaya Sakamoto can pronounce English.
