Well, considering it's shown both in the TV episodes and in the Bardock: The Father of Goku special, I'm just wondering HOW you missed it.

Anywho, he gets killed by Freeza when he launches his planet-destroying attack against Planet Vegeta. Bardock is in the direct path of it and disintegrates.

Its explained in a Dragonball Z special. I think its called Dragonball Z Special 1: Bardock, Father Of Goku. It explains Goku's origins, who his father is and the downfall of the Saijin race. spoiler[Bardock dies by one of Freeza's huge energy ball things that he uses to destroy planets. Bardock tried to confront Freeza and kill him but eventually was overpowered.] Thats pretty much it however spoiler[Bardock does get a vision of Goku being the one to kill Freeza before he dies].

"Believe it!"

If anyone noticed, this is one of the many plotholes of DBZ because spoiler[in the vision, Goku is facing Freeza in his first form, where in the series, Goku never saw freeza until he was in his fourth form.]

Thing is, the Bardock special is semi-filler. He (and the story) is entirely toei-made (like the movies or Garlic Jr.) however Toriyama decided to incorporate him into the manga for a brief while.

The Bardock Special was animated before the Freeza fight, so the paticulars of the situation were not all figured out.

Yeah everything they just said is true. Also, one of the reasons why I don't like DBZ anymore.Too many plot problems, that and it goes on for too long. And everything seems too similar. Bad guy decides he wants to take over a planet we earth fighters or non earth fighters must get stronger and defeat him or them. Too similar in most of the sagas and get the dragon balls. Then when fighting the actual bad guys most of it is talking and then the fighting and talking goes on for a very long time until it's finally done...I gave up on DBZ after the cell saga and part of Majin Boo. Just couldn't stand it anymore.

So it's found in a movie. What I don't understand now is when I was looking at pictures of Bardock I saw one that had Bardock and Goku talking to each other. Goku looked mad though. How do you explain that?

Another inconsistency in that special. Grandpa Gohan finds Gokuu just a few feet away from his space pod, while in Master Roshi's recollection, Grandpa Gohan finds Gokuu in the space pod itself.

Another inconsistency, they did change the blood color of Piccolo and Namek-sei-jin's in general. In the original Dragon Ball series and in the Raditz part of the Saiya-jin story arc, Piccolo's blood was red. Then when they get to Namek, they change it to purple. Also, Piccolo Daimaoh is first introduced always eating animals, when in fact Namek-sei-jin's only drink water. Kinda weird.

Back to the Bardack special, I remember in the TV series just before he goes out to destroy Planet Vejita, he kills King Vejita and his men. They omitted this in the Bardack special as well.

dunno if this is true by the way.

I heard from a guy in the shop I acquire my manga from tabout another hole in the plot.

Goku vs freeza, freeza can breathe in space no problem so he's not worried about the loss of the planet but goku as a saiyan cant breathe in space...and yet bardock is a saiyan and flies through space and breathes as per normal...
