egh, I've been posting a lot of crap lately.. but I'd like to make this suggestion: Have longer precision boxes... Yeah, they're usually okay for most cases and having really long ones wouldn't be too useful all the time, but I think for series longer than the usual 26 episodes, there should be a greater allowance for the silly people like me who enter every episode so-and-so person's been in... and you'd use up a lot of spaces if they don't follow some nice pattern (like all the even episodes or something like that).
I know it's kind of selfish, but I don't think I'm the only one. I think it's important because it is not entirely useless information, and it can be quite an important piece of info if you're looking up acertain person and you want to see which episodes they were in, or if you wanted to see if two staff have worked together on certain episodes... Also, even if they didn't take part in so many episodes, a number of times there's the problem where you want to write which company they're listed under (which I find fairly important if you want to get an idea of who is in where) but you have to take it out because there's just no space in the precision box. It would be great if you could do it on some sort of request basis, since I don't think everyone puts as much information in... but then that would also mean extra work for you guys. Then again I don't think it's worth increasing the character length for the precision for every single show... What does anyone here think? (I decided to go ahead and request this because I do want to have a nice complete set of info for Eureka 7, but I'm starting to run out of space and it's only episode 22...) Another alternative is that I could just go compile it on a separate page and link that in the 'other pages' thing, actually... |

It's not selfish, I just ran with the same problem... I was entering all the "main" episode staff for Pretty Cure (meaning script, episode director, animation director and art director) and I'm now unable to put more into Shimokawa, Tadami because she already has ep 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 21, 24 and I'm only at ep 26 out of 41.
Actually I think this idea of precision is pretty bad for episode count. This idea is great when you have on the credits something like Someone and then the precision is (Studio). Which do happen from time to time. Instead of using this type of counting, I would love to see a division between the main staff and the episode staff. That would be lovely and easier to read and compare one episode from the other. There is another problem with the episode precision thing. A lot of times has happened to me that when trying to enter the episode people, he or she is already listed on the main staff and since I can't edit entries made by another person... I'm unable to put episode counts for them. Example: Gyo, Shinzo in Pretty Cure is listed in almost all the episodes as Art Director... so far all of them but episode 10. This is important because it means that Toei or maybe the director thought that Yoshida, Tomoko was able to do it by herself and trust her abilities, instead of being helped by Gyo, Shinzo as all the rest of the episodes. |

While it is nice to know which episodes every character was in, my opinion is that having that for every character is too much for a series overview page. Although for small/unlisted roles it's nice to know which eps they're from (for which cases, I'd expect the precision to fit much easier).
I like this idea. It'd be fun to have charts showing which characters play in which episodes, like this one I've been referencing for Ultra Maniac. ^^ |

^^;; It is a nice idea the character ones, but we are talking about staff for each episodes, not the characters. But still I like the idea of the characters none the less.

Hehe, oh yeah; Sorry about that. Guess I sort of skimmed that ^^;
Hmm, well for staff I think it's the same kind of deal. It just seems like a bit too much information for an overview page; so if any such character x episode page were ever invoked (similar to the episode title page), it could include staff as well |

Actually, I agree with this request, I've run into this problem myself as well.
I'd like to point out that it is absolutely not necessarry to use precision for VAs when the same VA plays the part for all the listed episodes. Precision should be used when 2 or more people share a role (cast or staff) ie: Peter M Jeffreys as Calrs (episodes 1-30) Mark McGuire as Carls (episodes 31-52) Director: Tatsuya Hayashibara (episodes 1-10, 15, 22-36) Director: Akira Kamiya (episodes 11-14, 37-50) Director: Usu Watanabe (Episodes 16-22, 51, 52) A feature to show which characters play in which episodes will probably be added at a later date. -t |

Perhaps it does seem like too much for an overview page... Was ANN meant to have pages for overview? It never appeared that way to me (stuff like anidb and animenfo seem to be more suited for that)
In which case then you could have all the nitty gritty details there (in-between animation, key animation, background art, composite blah blah blah) but on the main page you just have the more important staff (Original Work, Director, Character Design, Other Main designs, Music, Story Editor, Sound director, Art director, main colour designer, Producers, Planning, etc... and if you want, Storyboard, Episode Director, Animation director, Script) Well, thank god for places like shirayuki.web.infoseek.co.jp and www1.vecceed.ne.jp/~m-satomi/data.animation.html ... |

I agree with you, thank God for that site (Satomi's one). It had helped me so many times.
Anyways, on the topic. I guess the idea of a separate page for the non-main staff could be good, but there's the problem with people adding some staff to one page and some staff to the other page. Also if ANN goes that way, I would love to have separate staff per episode, something like the webpage that wao linked. Since that's easier to read and not get confused. Also that will solve the precision problem as well. |
