What are the capabilities of the various cybergenetic enhancements of the group in Section 9? I know The Major is a fully cybernetic. Does she have a human brain? How does she control other people without being physically in contact with them? In one episode she made Batou punch himself in the jaw. In another episode she made a terrorist shoot his cohorts.

What about Batou? In some episodes he seems to be as fully cybernetic as the Major, but in other episodes he seems to have only a couple of cybernetic enhancements.

Is there a website that fully details the technology of the Ghost in the Shell future?

The major, I believe, does not have a humanized brain. She's competely cyborg. The only thing that allows her to be the way she is is her ghost.

Well, rather than explain away the Major versus Batou, I'll explain Togusa versus Batou. Togusa is the LEAST cyberized member of Section 9. As such, he will never be able to jump down from the roof of a 4 story building the way Batou can. Togusa would injure or kill himself if he did that. The only enhancement Togusa has is his communications implants that allow him to link with other people and mentally talk to the rest of the team.

Saito, the next up on the list on the list of least to most cyberized (at least according to the Tachikomas), has a cybernetic eye and arm that allow him to precisely target someone or something. This is very handy since he is called on to act as a sniper.

I'm not sure what the ranking is with Pazu, Boma, and Ishikawa, but they are somewhere between Saito and Batou in cybernetic enhancements.

I thought that ARAMAKI was the least Cyberized?

Well, dunno... HIM and TOGUSA don't seem to have access to external memory *in the TV series anyway*

Not sure if SAITO is necessarily the same though

ISHIKAWA and BOUMA are more on the information retrieval side of things from what I could understand

Not too sure where PAZU is though, we'll probably find out in the SECOND SEASON... He seems like the guy who can do a bunch of things at this point

But it's weird, we never seem to see SECTION NINE use a lot of people *other than a few times*, it's always about the main team, which is kinda weird, but hey

Why would you think its weird that section nine keeps using the same characters for missions? Have you ever heard of a protaginist or main character? Holy crap I just saw the FMA season 2 preview it looks pretty tight, um anyway back to the subject yeah Togusa is said to be the least cyberized and even though the movies and TV series have a different stories, the cyberized characters seem to be able to do the same things as their counterparts. If youve seen the first movie when The Major explains to Togusa why she transferred him to Section 9 she says because he's human and has almost no cyber implants at all. Besides Batou, The Major, Saito, and the old guy (their commander i forgot his name) we are pretty much in the dark about everyone elses implants. Hey who needs implants when you got TACHIKOMAS.

... Huh?

Anyway, what I'm saying is that it's kinda counter-productive sometimes when you have all that man-power but then never really use it *Like that episode where they go to the man-made island*

I'm pretty sure SECTION NINE is composed of more than the members we normally see

Well, who knows

Yes, but not very many more in the operations department (i.e. butt-kicking). You'll see a few more in 2nd gig.

The Major didn't actually make Batou punch himself. The whole joke, as I saw it, was completely different. It's one of my favorite scenes; it plays out kinda like this. ~ The Major is giving Batou a hard time because he is wasting his money on weight training equipment which he obviously doesn't need. Batou retorts with "Well Major macho, why don't you stop trying to look female on the outside and switch over to a male chassis, you'll be stronger and have more authority." In response the major takes off her watch and motions (bring it) to Batou. "Let's do it," says Batou and the Major walks up to him looking really innocent (something like this Anime smile). Batou then proceeds to hit himself, and the Major finishes the whole affair with, "So long as you can turn an opponents over ampt aggression against him, the female model is just fine." ~ I feel, that he hit himself because he suddenly realized how stupid the situation was. Batou seems to be traditional and set on certain morals (see ep. AG2O), so he hits himself instead of innocent and very pretty Major.

Laughing! I can rarely fully understand what joel_s says. I think joel was basically saying, "If you over specialize, you bread in weakness" - The Major (GitS movie).

Yeah.. no. The Major hacks his cyberbrain and makes him punch himself. Showing him that brute strength is not the only way to win.

Embarassed Does the manga explain it, or am I missing something?

Edit: Ok, I see Embarassed. I pulled out the DVD and put it in. My mind remembered it differently than it was in reality. The whole thing with Batou's fist and the Major looking at her hand afterwards kinda give it away Anime smile + sweatdrop (especially if you've seen the first 26 eps.).

You seem to be forgetting that it is a television show. Therefore they won’t to give their main characters as much on screen time as possible. If they have a whole bunch of different characters in it they won't be able to highlight the main protagonists as much. Also Section Nine is a specialist unit so there probably aren't that many members.

Much funnier in the manga. In the manga spoiler[the Major makes Batou punch himself in the face because he was eavesdropping in her mind - by accident - during one of her all female orgies].

Like I said, much funnier in the manga.

No, I don't mean to develope a bunch of nameless faces, I'm just saying that they seem to never be used in different missions... We don't even see them in the ending

The most we get is the LAB GUYS and the AI LADIES

From time to time though, there does seem to be a lot of them, remember the training? And the cofee house shakedown?

We could say that they were from other departments, but then why train people?

...

when I look at all this, it's kinda weird, but maybe I'm missing something... I'll be sure to look out for it when I watch again

About the manga:

"Oh, major, what a surprise! ... you alone?" Laughing

Hey, can anyone upload one of these orgy scenes/talk. Not that I'm interested in horny pictures, I just have a hard time believing all this orgy talk is for real Laughing.
