I'm just wondering what lenght an anime series should be. I prefer 50 episode series like the gundam franchise.

I like 50 better because the dvds will be worth more than 26 episodes. 5 on 1 dvd beats 3 on 1. But shows that they show on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim should be short or they should put them on everday.

As long as is needed to tell the story. I hate it when shows finish up with some rushed/half-baked/open-ended "conclusion". I also hate it when a show drags on pointlessly for sometimes scores of episodes than it needed to. (I'm looking at you, Takahashi...)

13 seems to be my favorite. It really depends on how long the story is but 13 seems to be able to cram the main plot in without alot of fillers.

I like 13 to 26 episodes as it's enough time to tell a decent story, and develop characters without becomming bogged down with filler episodes as well as being easier on the bank account. Although I don't mind it longer like the various Gundam series and FMA. I make the cut off at about 100 though unless it's really good and stays that way.

I can't stand series that last more than 52 episodes. It becomes obvious pretty quickly that they are just trying to milk a series for profits or something. I like for a series to have a steady progression of story, not just a never ending cycle of episodes with no direction.
If they want to continue the story beyond that then they should come up with distinct new stories that span 26-52 episodes, as opposed to Inuyasha which spends over 100 episodes trying to track down Naraku and the jewel fragments. How many of those damn fragments were there, anyway? The Shikon Jewel had to be the size of the Hope Diamond to produce that many fragments!

I would say about 13-26.That gives enough time for a good story and chairacter development. Its not too short and not too long to were theres alot of filler episodes. And i dont have to buy a crap load of dvds, but it looks like im going to have to make an exception for FMA though.Hopefully they will come out with a box set or something.

I'm also wondering if short 13 episode series leave you wanting more like hellsing for example. The series was too short for me and left alot of stuff unanswered.

I prefer about 24-30 episodes. It costs a lot less that way.

I prefer 26-27 long series, but I don't mind if they're long... or longer, but it has to have a very good plot that doesn't drag on too quickly.

Lets see I prefer about episode range of about 50-100 sounds good to me. I hate when anime is left unfinished and the manga keeps going then the anime should be completed.
