I had terrible Cloudflare problems around or just before Christmas. So bad in fact that I had to E-mail Dan42 because I was utterly unable to post or even Private Message. The forum could be loading fast but anytime I hit 'postreply' it would give me a Cloudflare problem. And on the rare occasion I got to the screen where you can type a post, I would type my post and then when I hit 'Submit' it would give me more Cloudflare problems.
And then one day the problem was gone and I could post normally. I never did hear back from Dan42 but then it has been the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

I also received the Cloudflare warning three times today. I am using Firefox 9.0.1 but I just know several hours later I am back on.

When you get a cloudflare error it means that one of ANN's servers is offline.
We're still with the flaky host and we're really unhappy with their performance, but .... we're working on it.

So that is what it means, honestly thought there might be a problem on my end. However, I am glad (at least in this case) it's not, but Tempest, I understand.
You think with a name such as Cloudflare there would be less problems, assuming they are using cloud technology. But again that is a assumption and regardless, it seems as if the performance (as Tempest has stated) seems to be lacking.
I am just glad there is work being done, but I completely understand that events such this happen with internet based companies. Thanks for all your work on this Tempest, as well as Dan42.

Wasn't the host someone different than Cloudflare? I thought Cloudflare was used to try and fix some problems ANN was having with their god-awful host. A host which brought the site down for over a day last year for no apparent reason.

Cloudlfare is not our host. It's an acceleration service. They make the site faster when it's up, and sometimes they let you access pages even if the site is down.

I would recommend that you dump cloudflare, as there are many sites having issues with them now as well. They will give you the "site is down" warning even when its not(running 5 websites that all wanted to use their accelerator service, and its happening on all 5 of them, and as soon as I dumped cloudflare on 1, the problems were gone). Cloudflare is a nice idea, but its causing a lot of issues with sites being shown as down when they are not(all 5 that I manage are up and running just fine, but cloudflare says they are down, at least until i dropped cloudflare on 1 of them, then its no problems after 1 week). They have some serious issues to work out.

I'm having bad suspicions with cloud servers, especially amazonaws.com. it seems the hackers and malware-contents issuers, are using them to sneak behind security software to have a good snoop round and nick you private e-mails, passwords, and creditcard details.

Apples and Oranges (been saying that a lot lately). Cloudflare merely caches webpages, they don't handle our servers or our database.

Your host and cloudflare seem to be doing a poor job; why haven't you just switched hosts?
Are all of the servers you're using dedicated? If they are, your host has little excuse for its incompetence.

Our colo is incompetent. We're working on the move, but we're changing our architecture at the same time and that has taken much more time than expected.
We use our own servers. The problem isn't the servers, it's the colo.

Cloudflare has been particularly bad this morning (NZ time). I was kind of hoping that the recent maintenance was to do something about the issues with the service, but I suppose it was just general site maintenance and nothing more.
Can't wait till you change your colo, that fiasco last year was inexcusable on their part.
