I've noticed recently that more and more retail stores are purchasing used DVDs and im wondering if there are stores that do the same with books/manga. I have a lot of manga that well to make it short suck that i would like to get rid of but if i could get money for them id rather do that than turn them into a flame ball. just wondering if not is there anywhere i can donate them like do libraries take free books?

I know locally in my town, there are quite a few used book stores that will buy books of any kind. It's not a big chain store though. I don't think Barnes & Noble or Waldenbooks will buy the used stuff. About your local libraries, you may have to call them and inquire about whether they take used books. I would think they would take them.

Your best bet, if you want to make any real money back, is to sell the manga that you don't want on eBay. Most used bookstores still don't know how to value manga, and as such you will be lucky if you get pennies to the dollar on it.

for money, use ebay

but if you don't want to do that, libraries will take almost any book they can get (I know this because my mom used to be a librarian), or give them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army (or some other store like those)

If you're looking to make back a little bit of money on your unwanted manga, I have to agree that places like eBay or half.com would probably be your best options. You may want to look into Amazon.com as well; I know they have a system for people to sell used books.

You may also want to check your local phonebook to see if you have any used bookstores in the area. It never hurts to bring something in to see what they're willing to offer for it, and that would give you a better idea of what the market is like.

As for your question about libraries, I have yet to find a library that is unwilling to accept book donations, especially of books in decent condition. More and more public libraries are expanding their graphic novel collections, so if you don't have luck with selling them on the secondhand market, definitely check into library donations.
