REVIEW: Berserk GN 35

Thanks for the compliments on the translation. It's always nice to hear positive feedback. Inserting things like pirate-speak is always a fun, but time-consuming process. At first I thought about really going overboard with Bonebeard's speech, but then I remembered what happened with Anderson in Hellsing, and decided it would be good to rein it in some.

It occurred to me at one point that these guys are now like ghost pirates. Not exactly ghost pirates, but something very similar. And here's their leader complaining that some kids screwed up his schemes. I don't know whether Miura is familiar with Scooby Doo, but I felt compelled to make such a reference since the context seemed tailor-made for it. I'm just glad my editors saw fit to retain it. And hey, it's nice to be able to work in some Western pop culture references, when Japanese references as obscure as Wednesday Special are in there as well. Leave it to Puck and Isidro (and now Bonebeard) to break the fourth wall. Speaking of which, wait until you see the oddball reference Bonebeard makes in vol. 36. It truly is a bizarre coincidence, since it's to another completely unrelated title I translate. Unless Miura's stalking me...? Nah, couldn't happen. He's no doubt just a fan of the show.

Lastly, thanks for reviewing a Berserk GN! It's a fun rarity to see one of those pop up on the reviews.
