I certaitnly didn't. This show, regardless of the slowness at the begining was great. I was like O.O when I got near the end of the series. They answer all the questions and the fight scenes toward the end I watch over and over again. Especialy spoiler[the one when Madlax is on her way to Friday Monday, after she discovers who she really is in relation to Margaret, and after her, Margaret, and Laticia combined and she's in the building about to kill Friday Monday, and is ambused.] How easily Madlax kills is amazing. She truely is a "kind killer" because she goes say sorry before she does it. spoiler[I believe that is the purity from Margarite talking] If you look at some of the scenes, especialy near th end, it looks like she is dancing, and beautifly so. Those types of things inspires me to want to write my assassin story even more. And I love the 6 sacred words, their fun to say. The series itself get good after the first 4 episodes unfortuantly. I'm not sure at this point if I want to purchase the dub because I was very disapointed (and angry) with the Chrno Crusade dub (and DNAngel), so ADV isn't quite in my favor at the moment. There is alot of symbolize in this show as well. Noir will always be my favorite from Bee Train (next to .hack) but Madlax is prreettttyyyy close. It kept making me REALLY want to see the next episode. spoiler[Especiasly when they began revealing the past.] |

I dunno... I've seen the first volume, and to be frank, I just couldn't find myself caring at all about the characters. I felt no sympathy, no intrigue... nada.
I may rent the 2nd volume as well when it comes out just to see if I feel any differently after that, but my expectations remain low at this point. |

I see Madlax as another .hack. Many people won't like it for it's slowness and general non excitment, but once you get into the story line, you want to know everything about it. The most amount of .hack people see is .hackSIGN, and yes even I will admit that that was pretty slow paced, and then the games were drawn out and long, but the mystery that surrounded .hack in general was amazingly deep and complex. These types of animes are for the new generation of Sherlock Homes, people who when they are presented with a mystery want to solve it ever so badly. I spent 6 months finding out every shread of detail I could about .hack and still learning new things about it. Granted, these types of animes aren't for everyone, but for people like me, these are simply heaven to our minds.

Heh...I did the same things, and I obsessed about "The World" in .hack//SIGN and the "ancient mysteries" surrounding it. Too bad it's taking so long for them to continue the franchise, and I can understand if it's not expanded upon, but CyberConnect2 almost let something slip about .hack recentally, according to this Black Wings site at least. |

Ok, so it's slow but for some reason I was so drawn into the crazy girls and gunplay stuff that the creators came up with that it never dawned on me. Not to mention the music by Yuki Kajiura . She's probably a regular on Bee Train's payroll'. :lol:But hey who cares, I loved it! Made me go back and watch 'Noir'. I finally finished that series.
Madlax may not be for some. I hear the moans already. And again the series does take a bit of work to comprehend all the elements leading up to the climax. Very psychological more than supernatural. I will be watching this show again so I can really pick up more depth. I wonder if there are any fansites dedicate to the series that will shed some light on the psychological aspect of the series? I want a thorough breakdown. Oh and yes now that I think of it Vanessa does remind me of Mireille'. But Margarette was obvious. Kirika was an amnesiac but she wasn't spouting 'cryptic' messages "Hey, Mireille ask me is it going to rain." Oh, and I love Remielda, nothing like adding a sexy sniper with an obsession. You thought 'Wile E. Coyote' was bad? Funny thing is did you know that the voice actress for Remierlda is the same as Kero-chan and Chloe? Talk about odd. Gotta love this guy's style, girls in sexy skirts, girls in hot pants, girls wearing native mid-rifts, but mostly girls-with-guns, wearing cocktail dresses, for gosh sake! And are they dating anybody? Guys? Hell no! They're too busy hanging out with other girls doing girl stuff! Anybody else notice this? |
