Supposedly this is meant to be from AnimeOnDVD, but I found it in CrystalAcids.com.
"At Anime Boston last weekend, it was revealed that Mona Marshall is the actress replacing Petra Burchard as Ryoko in the upcoming US release third Tenchi Myuo OVA series. Marshall had previously voiced the character’s appearance in Tenchi GXP. Else, it was noted by Media Blasters’ John Sirabella that the Ah! My Goddess TV series dub would most likely go to Bang Zoom, making at least a partial return of the movie/mini-goddess cast probable." Not so good news, eh? Mona Marshall as Ryoko. I'm rather surprised. Good news from Ah! My Goddess TV cast. My favorite recording studio are having a partial return in the new series. Our Media Blasters panel report will be posted shortly. What John specifically said was that while MB is certainly interested in bringing back the cast of either the OVA or the Movie, nothing is definite at this point and no commitment can be made one way or the other. |

I thought John reported in Anime Boston that they were at least going to get a partial return from the folks in Bang Zoom!
Oh well. I was wondering how we members of ANN can contribute news to ANN. I guess the talkback forum wasn't the way to go ahead with it. |

I think the OVA actors are just on the wrong coast, and it would be too expensive to truck 'em all in. And a lot of them haven't worked together in the best part of a decade.

MB can only but ask, it's up to the VA's to say yes, or no. How long they have worked together is basically irrelevant as they would be doing their roles seperately and on different days anyway. Rarely do they work all together at one time. |

I'm sorry that I put this thread in the wrong place. A moderator may move it to the anime section anytime now.
About the OVA cast, I don't really mind who goes in for the cast. Though I do have a deep-hidden bias for Bang Zoom!.... oh okay then, I love the Bang Zoom! folks. There I said it. But think about this. Do you think Juliet Cesario and the others would have a done a better job in the movie than did Bridget Hoffman et al.? I have to admit that the OVA cast may sound slightly a bit better in producing a younger feel. The movie Belldandy, was motherly like Inoue Kikuko. I'd like to see Wendee Lee do another fun/sexy Urd. Well, if Media Blaster fails to get either of the cast back, I wouldn't mind with just my lovely Kikuko, Yumi and Aya (and Masami of course) as the only available voices on the DVDs. But I do really think that since Ah! My Goddess is such a prestigious and classic anime, the English cast should be outstanding and superior. E.g. Bang Zoom! (lol) |

Unlike Tenchi Muyo, where a mostly new cast was used only for that one cameo episode of GXP (becuase it would not have been cost-effective to reassemble an entire cast for just part of one episode), Ah!/Oh My Goddess already has an established "new" cast used in the movie and Adventures of the Mini-Goddess, so "continuity" can go with either cast, and, since most of the newer cast is in the right city (on the right coast, by which I mean the "left coast") and is still working in the industry (while, according to the encyclopedia, aside from Juliet Cesario's work on You're Under Arrest, most of the main cast haven't dubbed any anime since the late 1990s, or 2000 for those people who worked on Blue Submarine No. 6), using the movie/mini cast would be the practical solution.
