Important: See this post on page 2 of this thread.
For the last few days I've been frequently getting the following error message: "Website Currently Unavailable The website you are trying to access is currently unavailable. Please try again at a later time." It then says "Protection by CloudFlare". I seem to be pretty much guaranteed to get it whenever I try to post something. It takes a minute or two of thinking for the message to pop up and if I start ANN in a new tab everything works fine, until I try to post again. On the theory that it might be malware I've run a series of scans with an assortment of anti-virus software and found nothing. Beats me! Edit: Of course, this time the post went through without a hitch. Figures. |

I started getting that same error tonight. I was on the "fast" server.
I changed to the regular "www.animenewsnetwork.com" address and was able to access the site again. |

I also have been getting that error on the normal version of the site using my iPhone.

I've been getting it all weekend, and I'm on the normal server on my laptop.

That error is the reason I haven't been able to post in several days. This is the first time in a while I've been able to get online and post something here.
But to be fair, I could have much more patience initially and just tried again later those last few days. |

PS: Cloudflare was initially trialled on the UK site, but appears to have gone site-wide since: animenewsnetwork.com/site-news/2011-09-29/speeding-up-ann-uk

It also seems to be causing double posts even though I only post once. This is at the library on a desktop.

Cloudflare is part of our current project to speed the site up. There's more than Just Cloudflare that we're working on though.
I don't think Cloudflare is actually causing any of the problems people are reporting, but we're working on every single one of them, but it's mostly just Dan with a bit of help from me (Sadly I'm mostly busy with other stuff). |

I have had to delete several double posts too. Whenever the site hangs, I just check the back to the thread and see that my post has already been posted. |

That’s a typical error for a website…there’s nothing wrong with your computer or internet connection it’s on the server, so worry no more.

These CloudFlare errors are becoming a bit of a bother. I've had several of them today. In fact, I've gotten the CloudFlare page more than I've gotten ANN's page. I realize that the whole purpose of using CloudFlare is to speed up the site, but it sometimes appears that CloudFlare's methodology is to speed the site up by denying access to users.
OK, rant over. By the way, I've not gotten the message Tempest mentions in the other thread. |

I've been permanently getting
Interestingly, www.animenewsnetwork.com/ doesn't seem to be affected, so I'm switching my bookmarks now. |

It doesn't seem to make much difference which of 'www.' or 'fast.' I use. Sometimes it's one, sometimes the other, sometimes both are unreachable. I rarely encountered that problem before the CloudFlare thing, so I suspect that is at least one source of trouble.

Both the .com and the .co.uk domain have been permanently inaccessible for me since my previous posting; I can only get in through the "down under" backdoor (which surprisingly doesn't redirect me to anything more geographically close to Germany).

The problem with posting ANN links is that the forum changes it to the server the viewer is on. I'm currently on the fast UK server (Skuld).
