This is great news. Although, considering that the manga only reached this arc in october, I foresee some large filler arc(s) in the near future. That being said, this is probably the point I'd start watching the anime again. It's a good break in the story to start anew

One Piece doesn't have "large filler arcs".
They're a year behind the manga just like normal, it will be fine.

No, I don't see any large filler arcs in the future. We may have some slow-paced 1 chapter = 1 episode stuff, but unlike Bleach and Naruto, One Piece's chapters have so much depth to them that such a pace, while not optimal, is still watchable. There will probably be small filler arcs as there have been before, but One Piece will never have a large filler arc. Not unless Oda goes on a longer break than 4 weeks at least. His writing is just too good.

No filler between Luffy's recovery and the New World? I like it!

The longest filler arc is like 10 episodes, which is nothing compared to Bleach and Naruto

Ooh, I've been waiting for this. I'm reading the manga, and mostly just follow One Piece through that, but I've wanted to see some of the episodes from the New Arc in animated form, mainly the Straw Hat reunion. Looking forward to this story continuing to grow.

Is this timeskip going to be treated like a completely new show with new episode counts (ala DBZ) or is it going to just keep on under the same old episode counts? I'd have to imagine that they would want to start over at some point, if nothing else to just make the show slightly more accessible, and not be ep #1200 or so.

Hmm, I wonder what they'll be showing until then.
I would've liked to see the anime expand on Luffy on Rusukaina. Then again, maybe that'll happen for an episode.

Great news! I was wondering when that would happen.
Now when will Bleach reach it's currently completely pointless Fullbring filler arc?

I am excited about this. It'll be cool to see the Straw Hats after their training.

I'll take large, skippable filler as opposed to padding in scenes I care about, which more or less makes One Piece unwatchable as an animated program. Such is the way of Toei.
If they can manage a way around it, that'd be great.

Yeah, later on OP gets so dang padded out each episode it gets really annoying. It's especially annoying since OP's formula of various different islands and traveling between them lends itself to make easy arcs. I don't mind when the anime does it's own thing, since new material is always fun for me, but I guess it's nice if it's in arcs so those who don't care can skip in, but with episodes being padded with either recaps/flashbacks/general stare-downs, you can't really skip em that easily.

A One Piece topic filled with fans whining about filler episodes? Who would've thought!
