I don't mind Skip Beat!, but that rating waaay too high.

I also don't like how story and art are always given similar ratings (not just in this case, and not just from Rebecca - everyone is guilty of it Smile). There are such things as series with terrible art and a good story (Ouran).

FMA got a B in art, and FMA's art is light years better than Skip Beat!'s standard shojo art. I won't compare the stories since FMA 25 was kind of a drag compared to the previous and future volumes.

The grades here are pretty arbitrary anyway. In my opinion Skip Beat's art is fairly generic style wise, but it's polished nicely, as she's had 24+ volumes of this series and 19 volumes of her previous work to refine it.

Pretty much my feeling, hence the grade. It may be pretty typical Hana to Yume fare, but it's well done Hana to Yume fare. Given that Jaymie doesn't like Ouran's art, I'd guess that's not your favorite of the shoujo base styles. (For me, it's the Ciao house style. God save me from those saucer eyes in the squidgy faces!) Arakawa's work in FMA is excellent, yes, but this volume was a bit of a lowlight in both art and story, comparatively speaking within the series.

Skip Beat! is easily my favorite on-going shoujo series, although I much prefer the "Dark Moon" arcs and before. The inclusion of Reino (and Reino's character in general) makes me cringe, and I understand that shoujo need love triangles (or 4+ sided polygons even), but for me what makes me love Skip Beat! is seeing Kyouko's determination and her steady improvement as an actress. It continues to entertain me, but if Reino somehow becomes an even bigger character in the story than he already is, I could see myself not liking it as much.
