This is the place to report duplicate persons. You must indicate:
1) which one is the real name? 2) is this a alias or a mistake? previous duplicate person reports are here Last edited by Dan42 on Wed Feb 16, 2011 11:55 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Hiroaki SATOU (my bad) Hiroaki SATO (correct) Also would someone be able to check the following two, I don't know any Japanese but I have a feeling these may be the same people. Both credited as Character Design for UY Movie #5: Setsuko SHIBUICHI (has more credits, not on the DVD) Setsuko SHIBUNNOICHI (straight off the DVD) Similar time frame, similar tasks: Yoshiyuki ICHIKAWA Yoshiyuki ISHIKAWA I realize they may be different people, but I just wanted to bring them up. |

Done.
Her name should be Setsuko SHIBUICHI (四分一 節子; しぶいち せつこ), so please remove your submission for Setsuko SHIBUNNOICHI (this last name looks very suspicious in the first sight) as the Character Design of Urusei Yatsura: The Final Chapter (movie), thus I can merge #10818 into #8408 completely. Very rare family name; don't know whether it's a stage name or a real name. Personally I'd like to thank you for mentioning her name. Now I'm really looking forward to her direction work, Momoko (もも子). A story about a handicapped girl and her healthy fraternal twin brother, this could be more a tearjerker than Grave of the Fireflies.
I really have no idea, because both names are legitimate (eliminating possible misspellings), and minor staff info are hard to find even in kanji, not mention in romaji. However, they *MIGHT* be the same person, for both Crystal Triangle (in which Yoshiyuki ISHIKAWA staffed) and Urusei Yatsura: The Final Chapter (in which Yoshiyuki ICHIKAWA staffed) are produced by Tatsunoko Productions. Looks like the only way is to post the question on their BBS.... |

Done, I thought it was a bit strange myself... Also is there such a sound as "si"...I can't recall hearing or seeing one. It's always "shi". And if there isn't, can you rename this or do I have to re-submit it? |

It is another romanization method (actually, THE standard method), called Kunrei-shiki (訓令式), taught in Japanese elementary schools. For foreigners like us, modified Hepburn is most commonly used, so し/シ can be spelled as "shi" (Hepburn) or "si" (Kunrei-shiki). Most entries in ANN Encyclopedia use Hepburn, especially modified Hepburn ("wapuro romaji," romanization for word processors) to reduce the use of special letters like ô or ō.
I'm afraid that I don't have the authority to modify entry titles directly. Personally, I'd suggest you resubmit it, which is easiest for it's the only staff position he has. As far as I can tell, all assistants listed in Ai Yori Aoshi manga are romanized with Kunrei-shiki, as in Asahi Katuomaki, Keizou Isikawa, and Mitukage Syoutengai (<- another strange last name. Shopping arcade?!). |

I actively and intensely dislike Kunrei-shiki (or shouldn't that be Kunrei-siki? ). It is completely counterintuitive (and counterproductive) to have a transliteration system that doesn't transliterate the actual sounds. The sound of し/シ is "shi", not "si". So the transliteration should be "shi", too. The day I give up the Hepburn system in favour of Kunrei-shiki is the day ...pigs fly, ...the temperature in Hell drops below zero degrees centigrade, ...and they stuff me in my grave. - abunai |

FYI,
Here's a nice table that compares the various romaji methods. http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Romaji#Chart_of_romanizations It would be helpful if the ANN encyclopedia standardized on one type and gave instructions on the submission pages on what to use. Wikipedia has a good example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_for_Japan-related_articles Just a suggestion. chris keck |

Renaming should really be easier, but I guess re-submitting is probably faster... So then it should be... Katsuomaki Ishikawa Mitsukage Shoutengai Satoshi ...right? Tokyopop just has to be different, huh? |

Hello,
dormcat asked me to give more help in vetting these people I reported as probable duplicates. I divided the names into groups. (There are two groups of people in the world, those that divide things into groups and those that don’t.) I couldn’t check the sources given for them, so I just checked the spelling. Please take a look and post a reply if you know anything that can help clear these up. Thank you in advance for all the help you will give me.
