I never watched Utena or HikaGo so Kawakami will always be Fushigi Yuugi's Chiriko to me. I'm so saddened this news and can hardly believe it. 40 is way too young...
My sincere condolences and may she rest in peace.

I have followed Kawakami since her role as Charlone Claudius in Growlanser II: The sense of justice for PS2. I am deeply saddened to hear that the anime community has lost a prominent and talented seiyuu.
On behalf of all Bay Area otaku, I offer my deepest condolences to her family, friends and coworkers. May she rest in peace, and live on in the hearts and memories of otaku everywhere.

This is extremely saddening news, especially given that I just watched her interviews in the "Aria" extras.
Somehow it seems particularly horrible that both the speaking and signing voices of Athena Glory died in the prime of their careers. I still haven't recovered from Eri Kawai's death, either...

R.I.P. Unfortunately, she attended AX before I fully had a chance to immerse myself in Utena. And it's been forever since I saw FY in Japanese. But she seemed like a real trooper. I hope she found her spiritual Anthy.

This is a really sad news. Kawakami was a really talented voice actress, and her performance in works such as Aria and those by Key (which I'll always remember her as Misuzu from Air) were absolutely phenomenal. My condolences to her friends and family, and may she rest in peace.

R.I.P.
She did good.
(But there are always a lot of new seiyuu ready to take over.)

WHAT!? Now I'm depressed. She played Soi Fon! My fave chara. Not just that, her range in her voice was BIG. She could play any role. RIP. Hopefully she'll go down as a legend in the VA industry.

Having watched around 40 anime that she's had a role in, it's obvious that this is a pretty big loss. It's a real shame to see someone so talented die at such a young age.

Sad, sad news.
For me, she will be alway amazing and wonderful Utena Tenjou and Noellu (Tenshi ni Narumon).
Condolences for everyone who will miss her.

Terrible news, and she was way too young to go. All I can do is thank her for her performances, a number of which have great personal meaning to me.
