The editor suggested I start a new thread for this, so here it is.

There is a page for the Yoroiden Samurai Troopers OAVs, but the problem is that it is a single page for all three OAVs. Two more pages need to be added, and the current one needs to be edited to be the first OAV, Gaiden, which consists of 2 episodes. The second OAV is Kikoutei Densetsu, and it has 4 episodes. The third OAV is Message, and it has 5 episodes. The kanji titles I submitted are taken straight from my episodes, so they are correct. Someone has marked in red the beginning episode of each OAV, so that should make things easier. Not sure how else to proceed from here.

This sounds like a similar situation to Urotsukidouji.

YST is an older series, so I can understand how there might have been some confusion. So can an editor please create two new pages for the other two OAVs, and I will get to work transcribing the credits of the OAVs.

I don't know if this helps, but I submitted new series entries for OAVs Kikoutei Densetsu and Message. If you can add them yourself instead, feel free to reject them.

Just checking back to see if anything is being done about this? If not, is there some kind of problem that I can help with?

I didn't look into the problem because I had never watched it and had next to zero knowledge of the series. If no one else jumps out then I'll give it a shot tonight.

Here are the relevant Sunrise "data cards":

http://www.sunrise-anime.jp/sunrise-inc/works/detail.php?cid=149

If you need to refer to the episodes themselves for specific cases, I have the R1 Bandai Entertainment releases (with the Japanese-language credits intact).

Submissions under the OVA entry are quite messy. Like what we've got in this thread, many US releases merged several Japanese releases under one title, resulting much higher episode counts per series and "disappeared" original titles. Jomy, I need your help to clear up relationships between series; from what I've learned from Japanese websites I'm not sure if those OVAs are sequels or spinoffs.

The relationships are actually very simple. This fan site has a timeline for the events of YST, compiled from artbooks, novels and other official publications (as well as fan speculations for the uncertain but assumed dates), and those dates are used as reference for when events take place within the series itself.

For instance, in OAV Gaiden, Ryou's birthday party happens at the very beginning, and since the TV series' events end in the spring of 1989, Ryou's birthday, in August, is also in 1989. And in the OAV Kikoutei Densetsu, which chronologically happens after Gaiden, it is summer. Fans assume that this means that it must be the summer of 1990 rather than that of 1989 because Ryou's birthday is in mid-August, and Sunrise has apparently refused to clearly state which year Kikoutei Densetsu takes place in. Message takes place sometime in 1991, but we have no concrete information other than that mentioned in an artbook, which states that Ryou chose to meet up with the other troopers at a particular location because he knew it would be quiet due to it being a holiday. Fans assume that holiday is part of Golden Week.

Now, I had already started on separating the roles for each OAV, and have now finished them, to send to doc-watson42, so I'm posting them here instead. What I did was add, under Precision, which OAV each role is for. Once there are properly 3 sections, one for each OAV, these precisions can be removed. Since I could only add these Precisions for my own submissions though, I've divided this post into the Precisions for my submissions, and the Precisions for submissions that weren't mine. Here they are:

My own submissions, with Precision edited:
Eri Kouno, as Luna (Gaiden) <-- please note that Eri Kouno is to be merged with Eriko Hara
Masako Katsuki, as Newscaster (Gaiden)
Tomie Oono, as Stewardess (Gaiden)
Minoru Inaba, as Police (Gaiden) and Ninja (Gaiden)
Masashi Ebara, as [Role I can't yet identify, posted on the forum for help] (Gaiden) and Speech director (Message)
Naoki Makishima, as Black man A (Gaiden) and Policeman B (Kikoutei Densetsu)
Hiroshi Hashimoto, as Black man B (Gaiden)
Keiji Fukushi, as Mukara (Kikoutei Densetsu)
Hiroyuki Suzuki, as Policeman A (Kikoutei Densetsu) and Man at gasoline stand (Kikoutei Densetsu) <-- I have not yet made a post for this, but Hiroyuki Susuki is supposed to be purged, as it is a wrong reading for this guy's name
Norio Wakamoto, as Kaosu (Message)
Manabu Itō, as Man A (Message)
Hiroshi Hamanaka, as Man B (Message)
Koichi Chiba, as Ushering voice (Message)

Submissions that are not mine, with Precision of the OAV:
Naoki Tatsuta, as Mr. Chin (Gaiden)
Seizo Katou, as Shikaisen (Gaiden)
Juurouta Kosugi, as Mad Scientist (Gaiden)
Hiroshi Hashimoto, as Announcer (Kikoutei Densetsu)
Yoshino Takamori, as Naria (Kikoutei Densetsu)
Mitsuki Yayoi, as Suzunagi (Message)
Gara Takashima, as Suzunagi's mother (Message)

Btw, what you might have heard about "spinoffs" possibly refers to the fact that Gaiden is never referenced again in the next two OAVs, Kikoutei Densetsu and Message. Gaiden is also an OAV that was created for the fans, ie to show the troopers in normal circumstances outside of fighting. For example, Ryou's birthday party at the beginning, and also when the troopers travel to New York, they meet people and eat at restaurants.

The OAV Message is known for consisting primarily of flashbacks from the TV series and Kikoutei Densetsu, with the troopers talking as the images are shown. The events of Gaiden are simply never mentioned at all in Message. However, in the drama CD Kourin Den, Seiji is experiencing doubts and unease at the thought of meeting the other troopers again, and avoiding them in case it might lead to another fight. The contents of the drama CD leads fans to believe that the events of Gaiden have affected him thus.

Here are links with proof on that, in case dormcat wants it before doing a merge:

It is a very informative fan site; thanks a lot. I'll change Gaiden to a "side story" while making Kikoutei Densetsu / Legend of the Inferno Armor and Message as "sequels."

I've approved your submissions of Kikoutei Densetsu and Message. You can now move your submissions to respective new entries (so I can take a break Razz).

Well, that is what the title means after all, "side story". Smile Though frankly, I still consider all three OAVs canon and sequential to one another.

Thanks! Glad everything has finally been cleaned up with the YST section. And sorry guys, but it'll never be the RW section to me. Razz

I have just added all cast members for both Kikoutei Densetsu and Message to their proper new pages, and deleted them from the Gaiden page. Now the following, not my entries, remain to be removed from the Gaiden page:

- Hiroshi Hashimoto, as Announcer (Kikoutei Densetsu)
- Yoshino Takamori, as Naria (Kikoutei Densetsu)
- Mitsuki Yayoi, as Suzunagi (Message)
- Gara Takashima, as Suzunagi's mother (Message)

I submitted these to their proper sections already, btw.

Also in the Gaiden section, opening and ending themes #3 need to be removed, as they were relevant only to Kikoutei Densetsu. The precisions of ep 1 and ep 2 also have to be removed from the relevant opening and ending themes, as they are no longer necessary.
