Not that I care for the Blu titles, but this and the rumored May title cancellations are a pretty big middle finger to their fans. Clearly now that they're closing they feel they have no need for a good reputation with their fans.

They're forgetting they still have a film company open, guess they aren't looking for carry-over fans. I was thinking of seeing the Priest film, but now I might just boycott it out of spite. I can also just donate to the red cross instead of bothering with their Japanese disaster documentary.

I was thinking of seeing Priest before I found out it was only an hour and twenty-seven minutes long.

I've seen animated kids' films that were longer than that. Laughing

Gentosha Publishing itself requested to take the titles down before the contractional (contractual?) deadline. Perhaps the titles have already reverted back to Gentosha Publishing early, and Gentosha has plans already to re-sell the licenses ASAP. So no sense in keeping the Tokyopop versions in circulation.

Well, we wouldn't know that for sure since TP isn't talking to the media or their fans right now about anything. Even the stores don't seem to have a clear idea of what's happening with their products. They announced they're closing at the end of May and then refuse to say a word more. When ADV closed they had offshoot companies in place. When Geneon closed they still lingered for months taking care of left over business. Tokyopop seems to think they can close their publishing arm and wash their hands of everything while their fans are getting screwed. Some of us have been pretty loyal for over a decade now, we don't deserved to be given the silent treatment like this.

Let us not forget who runs TP. If Stu Levy believes that shutting down cold turkey like this will put an extra 25 cents in his bank account, then that is what he'll do. I'm not sure that he has ever given a spit for the fans, his ego won't allow it. I have several TP published series' that I probably won't be able to finish now, and I don't imagine that he's lost a bit of sleep over it.

Perhaps enurtsol has it right. If Gentosha has asked that they be removed, maybe there are plans afoot for new licensing agreements. It would be good if Yen were to pick some of them up.
