One question. How's the turnout for San Diego Con?

As far as I know, San Diego ComicCon is directed at a much larger audience than Otakon or AX. Anime and Manga fans are not the majority, and are somewhat out numbered by casual browsers and American Comic Book fans, especially long time collectors.

The audience which is aimed at somewhat differenciates ComicCon from most others.

I heard the female turnout at Comic Con was larger this year due to the rising popularity of anime and manga here . . .

I think that one reason AX has gotten a reputation for being an 'industry con', is simply because it's become so common for the major companies to announce new liscenses and such there. When people expect so many 'official' things to be announced there, the association is unsurprising...

I went to Anime Expo this year and it was my first time. I was excited and I want to go back again.

Well AX has always been more popular in Aneheim anyway. (repeat attender) It is an awesome venue. Last year (i missed it by the way) It was in Long Beach. Aneheim is just easier to get to and a better known location for the Expo. It is also one of the longest running Anime Only Expos.

Cali is a mecha for Anime anyway. I moved to Georgia, of all places, a few years ago. There is only 1 anime/manga store out here and he has turned online orders only recently. ONE. In Cali I had 4 in my own town. Then I also had like 4 japanese video stores and 2 japanese bookstores to go to. Here in the ATL there is like ONE japanese bookstore. (I miss cali)

I've attended Anime Expo five times and Otakon twice so far... and AX has always felt bigger to me. I've always enjoyed both of them, though I've had more problems with how things are run at Otakon. >_>

pandorina ~ Last year, 2003? It was in Anaheim. It was last in Long Beach in 2002.
