This is one company I wish I had the money to buy and FIRE everyone single person in the place. I am sick and tired of them abusing the anime fans by release DUB ONLY DVDs! Why do they insist insult everyone with bad product?
They don't respond to feedback and seemly turn a deaf ear to the fans. I was very upset with the Devilman DVD with no subtitles after I bought it and now they are planning to release more in the same fashion. Arrgh!
DVDs offered a good solution to the dubbed and subbed battle and Manga Entertainment can't be bothered to treat the original with any respect. I have no interested in a dubbed as my DVDs don't have an english track :D They make me so mad that I could spit.

Manga has been releasing them dubbed since they started. From a business standpoint, it makes sense if you're trying to reach people outside the normal anime fan base.
If you just want the anime fanbase then you could offer it in sub.

Isn't that a Hybrid DVD?
Anway, has Manga even had a sub version of Devilman? They probably figured they'd just keep with the Dub format rather than spend more money on subbing it since there really aren't all that many Devilman fans out there in the US and the money would be wiser spent on new products.

Not true. The majority of anime fans watch dubs, not subs.
But it still seems unreal to me. Manga really doesn't put subs on their DVDs? That seems so incredibly ridiculous... it's not like subs are that expensive to make. Fansubbers do it in their SPARE TIME, fer cryin out loud! I don't imagine what kind of excuse a company would have for alienating potential customers like that.

I think the problem is that a number of their older titles were only released dubbed on VHS, so in order to include a Japanese track they have to spend time and money getting the rights and masters for it from Japan and then paying for a new translation and sub timing. Since these titles are geneerally the less popular ones, they probably don't think it's worth the cost,. Manga's bad, but they're not that bad.

My biggest problem with them now is the newest rumor floating around since Ohayocon....
That they are going to release the 3 OAV series Read or Die in a movie format instead of the OAV format. That makes me mad I like RoD.

I don't know how they stand it, but my brother and ton of his friends prefer subtitles as they know how bad dubbing is. And it is no matter how you put it.

Would you rather pay $30 X 3 or $30 x 1 and not get the OP/ED?

I would rather them release it as it is supposed to be. There's nothing holding them back from putting all 3 episodes on one disc. It's not like it won't fit.
Though, Keith from Manga has replied to AnimeNation stating that the show will remain uncut, but it will be in a "Play All' format...the credits and everything will still be there but you may not be able to skip them. It's a f'd up thing. It's not like this is new technology and no one knows how to make a DVD. Maybe Manga needs to meet up with Right Stuf. Right Stuf can teach them how to make kickass DVDs

I'd take sub over dub anyday. Even so, I like Devilman. I also like Tank Police (although I'll take the old ones over the newer ones).
The thing I noticed about Manga is that they pick up the titles that were more appealing to adults. As a result, the titles are less popular. They don't have the fan base other companies have, so they appeal to the masses and dub the anime.

By "play all" do you mean like what tokyo pop does? If so, what's wrong with that?

Nothing is wrong with a "Play All" format. Ideally, you should have the option to play all the episodes or go back to the menu after each one. As long as it's each episode separately and not smushed into one "movie", I'll be somewhat happy. I just find it stupid that Manga still doesn't know how to release a proper DVD in this day and age.

I think, like the rest of you, that Manga is populated by whiny, incompetent poopy-heads, BUT...
I know for certain dub-only discs that the Japanese licensors WON'T grant the US distributors with the original Japanese language tracks, for one reason or another. I'm not sure if this is the case with Devilman and the other Manga dub-only discs, but if it is, your beef is with the JAPANESE LICENSORS, not Manga.
