Most of the bands who do the dubbed intros for Funimation aren't really famous except for the ones who do the music for DBZ. If there was a famous american band that would do dubbed intros, what band would you want it to be?
I think Green Day would be a good choice for the Fullmetal Alchemist intros. I listen to their music, and I think they would do a good job doing the FA intros. But I don't think that'll ever happen.

The bands who did the DBZ music are famous in the US? And I thought I heard that the FMA music won't be replaced. I could be wrong though.

Well the bands who did the music for the movies include Pantera and Disturbed.
I didn't know they weren't going to dub the intros. Well, that sucks.

I seriously doubt that they recorded new music for a few little low-budget anime movies. Odds are FUNi just bought the rights to nab a few tracks off their existing albums.

Funi got Disturbed music on DBZ? *cringes* Oh man, that's about as bad if not worse as Korn's music being on the Tekken dub. I'll just pretend I never heard that Disturbed is in any product to do with DBZ.
As to bands to redo certian dub songs... well... I would LOVE to see The Distillers redo Ready Steady. I think their music has the same punk style at times, and definatly the same amount of energy. And even though The Distillers have a female lead singer, she sings like a guy. Distillers doing Ready Steady would own. Heck, I can see The Distillers doing an awesome job in pretty much any Japanese Punk anime opening. Far Far Away for Naruto... Distillers would own that too. If you haven't guessed it yet, I'm a giant Distillers fan.
Wait... Brody of the Distillers is from Austraila I think. Does that automatically make her void for this thread? Are we talking about bands popular in America, or originated from America?
That aside, I think greenday would be great for the less energetic yet still punkish FMA opening, Mellisa. Greenday is great a punk band, but I think they shine even more with the songs they actually sing out.
Other anime themes that aren't really pop that I can think of a band doing at the moment:
Witch Hunter Robin - Shell - Darling Violetta
They aren't a HUGELY popular band here, only people with a taste in their genre know them. They did the themesong to the Angel tv series, and made many guest appearances on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Their genre of music reminds me a lot of Bana, so that's why I'm posting them in this.
Matantei Loki RAGNAROK - Rakuen Tobira - The Rasmus
... I just see it. The singers sort of have the same tone, and Ramus does a lot of sort of soft rock stuff that's like Rakuen Tobira. It's a nice added bonus that the band is from Norway... I think. ... Ok wait... that's another band not from America. Meh, this song was useless anyway, only about 10 people on this board have heard it.
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette - Houseki - Evanescence.
This is an easy choice. Houseki = nice slow song with electric guitar every now and then, and it's a depressing song. Evanescence = does slow songs aplenty, especially in their first cd, with guitars showing up every now and then. Depressing is their specialty. Then there's the female vocal factor.
*Will post more if she can think of any*

I think Stabbing Westward was on the Tekken movie, too. And some corny band sings the intro to Saint Seya on CN. I don't know, though - I love to hear my favorite bands - Brand New, TBS, Saves the Day - but I'd rather see and hear the original intro. I am a big fan of many anime soundtracks with great opening and intros like IY, FLCL, and Escaflowne. The only instance I'd support having another band do the music is in Noir; some of the music fits, but I swear I'll break my TV if I hear one more Dah Dah Dah, Dah Dah Dah Dah Dah Dah, Dah Dah - Dah Dah - DAH!

It would have been cool to see Coldplay doing Clocks for the opening of Gundam Wing, or maybe that's just me.
I also thought it would have been great if Cowboy Bebop opened to Miserlou *The opening song for Pulp Fiction* but Tank will do just fine

So I'm not the only Saves The Day fan after all.

They have a lot of stuff; I think they got Drowning Pool on it at least once(credits flash by too quickly). Anyway, I'm not into the idea of anime with American music unless it fits the series; by "fitting," I mean if the series itself is set in America or done with Japanese punk so American punk rock would fit in. For the most part, I don't want any type of rock music at all in anime. I can barely stand those anime music videos that everyone loves...

Ah, no wonder I liked "Shell" so much. The "Angel" theme song was definitely a favorite of mine

The show is call Hanada and no they didn't "do" the music for the show. The stuido happen to licensed the music from thier album to used for thier openning. Even though the music made no sense as to what the anime is about, it's still very enjoyable.

I would use Red Hot Chili Peppers for a lot of themes, especially since their albums are always contain different emotions.

Mr. Big, who does the closing theme for Hellsing, was a fairly prominent American pop star back in the late 80s. I was very surprised to see him pop up again in a place like that.
