Animator Salaries

An animator who is just starting out earns less than a convenience store clerk in Japan. Most starting animators earn less than 800 yen an hour (US$7). Meanwhile, a 20-year veteran animation director reported last year that he was only making $900 a month per anime he was working on and had to work 2 anime at a time in order to make ends meet.
