Crowds Flock to Scotland's Biggest Ever Comic Con
Last Saturday's MCM Scotland Comic Con was the largest comic convention the country has ever seen, with almost 20,000 visitors coming through the doors of GLASGOW's SECC.
"We knew the show was going to be popular, but we were still blown away by how many people came along on the day," said event co-organiser Paul Miley. "Next year's show will run for the whole weekend - 6-7 September - and we are expanding the floorspace as well."
Visitors to the comic con got to meet a host of special guests, including Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5, Tron); Mira Furlan (Babylon 5, Lost); Warwick Davis and Katie Purvis (Harry Potter, Star Wars); Kai Owen (Torchwood); Hannah Spearitt (S Club 7, Primeval); Rupert Young and Adetomiwa Edun (Merlin), and top anime voice actor Vic Mignogna.
The inaugural Scotland Comic Con also proved a great show for the talented comic creators in our sold-out Comic Village, as well as the many retailers with stands at the event.
“I am very pleased to have been part of the first ever MCM Scotland Comic Con at the SECC in GLASGOW this past weekend. It was fantastic," commented Jerome Mazandarani, Manga Entertainment's Head of Marketing and Acquisitions.
"It was wonderful to meet so many passionate Scottish anime and manga fans. We were treated so well by everyone we met. GLASGOW is a beautiful city and genuinely one of the friendliest places we've ever visited. I am really looking forward to returning next year."
The next MCM Scotland Comic Con will be held at GLASGOW's SECC on 6-7 September 2014. We hope to see you there!
