AnimeUSA 2009 Announces Musical Guest Kaya
ANIMEUSA 2009 ANNOUNCES MUSICAL GUEST KAYA!
ARLINGTON, VA – July 20, 2009 - AnimeUSA 2009 is pleased to announce that experimental vocalist KAYA will be its musical guest of honor. Most notably known for his powerful vocals as lead vocalist from synth duo Schwarz Stein, KAYA will be performing in concert, and also be available throughout the weekend for autograph sessions, panels, and press interviews.
KAYA started his musical career in 1999 as lead vocalist for Meties, a Shikoku based band, under the pseudonym Hime (Princess). The band, however, did not live past the release of their first demo tape. The same would happen with 'Hime's' next band ISOAL. It wouldn't be until 'Hime' met Hora of Velvet Eden that he would find a unique style to call his own. Still under the pseudonym 'Hime,' KAYA and Hora formed the electronic-acoustic duo Rudolf Steiner.
It was a style unlike any other Visial Kei band and the sound was so unique and different that it caught the attention of Mana (of Mox dix Mois, and ex-guitarist of Malice Mizer). He soon after signed them onto his own label Midi:Nette in 2002, and Rudolf Steiner became Schwarz Stein. Hime would go on to become KAYA.
However, Schwarz Stein did not last long; the band split in 2004 due to artistic differences and KAYA went on to pursue his own solo career. In June 2006, KAYA held his first performance as a solo artist and the 400-person limited concert sold out on the first day.
As a solo artist KAYA is always seeking to experiment with new and different sounds and genres, mixing jazz with rock, or traditional Japanese music. Sound, composition, lyrics, and visual effects are all equally important to KAYA. For him, it is necessary that all these aspects flow together so as to take the listener to a place that is beyond their normal reach.
