Anime USA Announces Back-On as Japanese Musical Guests of Honor
ARLINGTON, VA - JULY 31, 2007 - Anime USA is pleased to announce that BACK-ON will be attending Anime USA 2007 as the "Japanese Musical Guests of Honor." BACK-ON is known for its metal riffs, hip-hop poses, angst and electronic atmospherics, as well as their contributions to a number of anime soundtracks. During their stay, BACK-ON will be performing a concert Saturday evening on November 17th in the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt. They will perform their best known 2006 hit single "Chain"; the opening song for TV Tokyo's anime Air Gear, licensed in the U.S. by ADV.
BACK-ON has been a rapidly rising star in Japan working from the underground and indie scene since their debut in October 2004. The band experienced greater worldwide recognition with the release of their anime debut “Chain” in 2006. BACK-ON continued contributing to anime soundtracks in 2007 performing “Hikari Sasuhou” for the opening theme of Murder Princess, and "A Day Dreaming" and "Blaze Line", to Eye Shield 21.
Their current members are vocalists MC TEEDA and MC KENJI03 (read as Kenji Three), guitarist SHU, bassist GORI, and ICCHAN on drums. KENJI03 and GORI have been friends since childhood, both attending the same primary school in Tokyo's Adachi Ward, a district that by Japanese standards has widespread crime and high-density public-housing apartment blocks. The gritty realism of the life they experienced there directly contributes to the attitude of their music. BACK-ON received their band name from lead singer Jesse from RIZE.
