ADV ANNOUNCES APRIL 17 RELEASES
HOUSTON, March 22, 2007 —ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime outside of Japan, is pleased to bring you the continuation of two titles, including the second volume of Le Chevalier D'Eon, and the third volume of the crazy comedy Paniponi Dash! Both titles are slated to arrive on stores shelves on April 17.
LE CHEVALIER D'EON:
AGENT PROVOCATEUR
“There Are Few Anime Works That Are This Promising This Early.” – Ain't It Cool News
ADV Films is proud to announce the arrival of a title that will have everyone re-thinking what anime is and what it can be. Le Chevalier D'Eon is one of the most anticipated and unique series of the new year. You can not miss out on what Underland Online calls “a series that is going to breed enthusiasm in anime fans, undoubtedly attract some new newcomers to the genre, and take historical fantasy to a higher level than has ever been achieved before.” The revolution and revelations continue in volume two on April 17! Volume two is also available in a custom series art box.
From Director Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Get Backers, Rurouni Kenshin TV/Samurai X) and Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Blood+) comes a tale of murder, mystery and mysticism. Le Chevalier D'Eon is a masterful fictionalization of the real life Charles D'Eon de Beaumont, a diplomat, writer, spy, and Freemason known as one of the best swordsman in France, whose true gender was a source of speculation well into the late 18th century.
Synopsis: Searching for clues to her murder, D'Eon discovers his sister's life in the King's court was more than jeweled gowns and priceless perfumes. It involved dark sorcerers, manipulative royals, and a violet-eyed vixen whose dangerous power turns innocent mongrels into slobbering, rabid monsters. D'Eon and his comrades slip from Versailles to Russia, seeking an emperor who appears to control magic-wielding followers. And serving a queen who seems far too pleased to have Lia's spirit possess her brother's body. A tormented beauty's soul that is not resting in peace, but is alive and well—and looking for vengeance.
Le Chevalier D'Eon: Agent Provocateur (SRP $29.98 DVD) is an anamorphic DVD-only release including episodes five through eight, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 5.1 with English subtitles. This DVD is packed full of extras, including historical notes, the video short “Crossed Swords and Cross-Dressing: A Photographic Profile,” “Conversations with Knights: Commentary with the Swordsman of Le Chevalier,” The Royal Mystique: Commentary with the Royal Women of Le Chevalier,” a video short of a Japanese Le Chevalier promotional event, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.
