Saijō no Meii Live-Action TV Series Gets New Special Episode in Fall

TV Tokyo announced on Saturday that it will air a special episode for the live-action adaptation of Takashi Hashiguchi and Kenzō Irie's Saijō no Meii (The Best Skilled Surgeon) manga this fall. The special will be titled "Saijō no Meii 2019."
The special's story will involve abduction, a prison break, and work in an operating room. Takumi Saitō will reprise his role as pediatric surgeon Mikoto Saijō. Manabu Asō is again directing, and Takafumi Kōsaka is writing the script for the special. Kōji Endō is returning to compose the episode's music.
The 10-episode live-action series premiered in 2011, and it received previous specials in 2016 and 2017.
Hashiguchi (Yakitate!! Japan) launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in December 2007, and ended the series in 2010. He launched a sequel manga titled Saijō no Meii ~The King of NEET~ in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2010 and ended it in 2014.
