The manga will have a color opening page and will feature on the issue's front cover. The manga will be the first new manga installment in the series since 2006.
The original manga begins when Hakuo Academy, a martial arts-focused high school, is losing students to its rival school Seishikan due to the latter's underhanded schemes. To fight Seishikan, Hakuo hires the Fūma ninja clan, and the clan dispatches the ninja Kojirō to assist. Kojirō soon squares off against Seishikan's own ninja clan, the Yagyū.
The manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1982 to 1983, and had a manga sequel titled Fūma no Kojirō: Yagyū Ansatsuchō in Champion RED from 2003 to 2006. The manga inspired three OVAs from 1989 to 1992, and a live-action television series 2007.
