Air Gear Artist 'Oh! great' Revealed as Bakemonogatari Manga Artist
posted on by April
Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine revealed on its Twitter account, after providing an illustration hint, that manga artist Oh! great (Ito Ogure) is in charge of adapting NisiOisin's Bakemonogatari novel into a manga series. The manga serialization will begin in this year's 15th issue on March 14.
Oh! great is known for creating the series Air Gear, Junk Story - Tetsukuzu Monogatari and Tenjho Tenge, which later inspired anime. He also worked on the story and art for numerous manga such as Burn Up!, Five, Himiko-Den, Majin -Devil-, Naked Star and Silky Whip. Additionally, he worked on end card illustrations for the anime series Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge and Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches.
NisiOisin's Monogatari Series novels center on Koyomi Araragi, a loner and failing student. One day, his classmate Hitagi Senjōgahara falls into his arms accidentally, and he discovers that Hitagi literally weighs nothing. According to her, she has had this problem since the first year of high school. After Koyomi helps out with her supernatural problem, Koyomi then meets other girls who are all troubled by some manner of supernatural "oddity."
The novel series began with the two-volume Bakemonogatari story in 2006, and it served as the basis for the first anime adaptation of the novels in 2009. The novel series' "final season" ended with Zoku Owarimonogatari in September 2014, but it featured a teaser for "Monogatari Series, Next Season Tsugimonogatari." Four "Off Season" novels — Orokamonogatari, Wazamonogatari, Nademonogatari, and Musubimonogatari — shipped in October 2015, January 2016, July 2016, and on January 2017, respectively. The novel series' new "Monster Season" launched with the Shinobumonogatari novel in July.
Aniplex of America is releasing the anime adaptations of the Monogatari Series in North America. The Owarimonogatari Second Season anime special, the most recent anime in the franchise, tackles the third Owarimonogatari novel volume. It premiered in a two-day television special last August. The Zoku Owarimonogatari novel will get an anime adaptation this year.
