This year's 12th volume of Kodansha's Young Magazine the 3rd magazine revealed on Monday that Osamu Mitsutani's manga adaptation of writer NisiOisin's (Monogatari series, Medaka Box) Himeiden novel will end in the magazine's next issue on December 6. The manga's fourth and final volume will ship on January 19.
In the novel's story, an event that produced a high-frequency sound known as the "Great Scream" occurred worldwide on October 25, 2012 at 7:32 a.m. The event lasted only 23 seconds, but it slew around 2.3 billion people, about a third of the world's population. Half a year later, a 13-year-old boy named Kū Sorakara goes to the Kisaragi Clinic for a checkup, as it seems he has lost the ability to feel emotion about anything. But after his checkup, a group known as the Earth Destruction Army invites him to the organization. The group tells Kū that they want him to be a hero who will fight the wicked Earth, which is trying to destroy mankind.
Mitsutani launched the manga in Young Magazine the 3rd in December 2015, and Kodansha published the manga's third compiled book volume on June 20.
Himeiden is the first novel in NisiOisin's Densetsu (Legend) series of novels. Kodansha published the Himeiden novel in 2012, and published the eighth novel in the series, Hieiden, last December.
