Nintendo updated its sales data through September 30 on Monday, revealing that it has sold more than 7.63 million units of its Nintendo Switch console worldwide. This includes 1.95 million units in Japan, 3.11 million units in the Americas, and 2.56 million units in other regions. In addition, Nintendo has sold 27.48 million units of Nintendo Switch software.
The total worldwide unit sales for Nintendo's other recent consoles and handheld devices are as follows:

Switch | 7.63 | 27.48 |
Nintendo 3DS | 68.98 | 343.07 |
Wii U | 13.56 | 100.85 |
Wii | 101.63 | 919.07 |
Nintendo DS | 154.02 | 948.59 |
Nintendo also updated its list of top-selling Nintendo Switch software titles. As of September 30, the top-selling titles and the number of units sold worldwide are as follows:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 4.70 million
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 4.42 million
- Splatoon 2: 3.61 million
- 1-2-Switch: 1.37 million
- ARMS: 1.35 million
From April 30 to September 30, the Nintendo Switch hardware and software sold 4.89 million units and 22.02 million units, respectively. Nintendo noted that the releases of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and ARMS in April and June particularly increased sales.
Nintendo's total sales for the six month period reached 374.0 billion yen (about US$3.3 billion), of which overseas sales accounted for 72.8% or 272.3 billion yen (about US$2.4 billion). Nintendo's total download sales for the period was 22.8 billion yen (about US$201 million), which Nintendo noted was a year-on-year increase due to downloads of Nintendo Switch titles. Nintendo also noted a year-on-year increase in its smart device and IP-related income to 17.9 billion yen (about US$158 million) due to the continuing success of Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes. Amiibo sales were at approximately 5.10 million units for figure-type and 2.80 million units for card-type.
The Nintendo 3DS family of systems saw a 5% year-on-year increase in hardware sales to 2.85 million units, due in part to the global release of New Nintendo 2DS XL in June and July. However, sales of Nintendo 3DS family software titles were down 28% to 13.82 million units.
As of June 30, Nintendo had sold 4.7 million Switch consoles worldwide. The console had sold an estimated 330,637 units in Japan within three days of its launch. It surpassed 500,000 units in Japan in four weeks — outpacing Sony's PlayStation 4 over the same time period — and surpassed 1 million units in Japan by June 25.
