This year's 41st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on Monday that Osamu Akimoto will publish a new chapter for his Kochikame (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo) manga in the 42nd issue of Shonen Jump on September 16. The new chapter will have a center color page.
Akimoto ended the police comedy manga in last year's 42nd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on September 17.
The manga centers on the crazy adventures of middle-aged policeman Kankichi Ryōtsu. Akimoto debuted Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo in 1976, and it has become Weekly Shonen Jump's longest-running manga series. Shueisha published the 200th and final volume of the series on the same day Shueisha published the final chapter in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The manga earned the Guinness World Record for "most volumes published for a single manga series" last September.
Akimoto started publishing four new short manga this year.
