October issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka magazine revealed on Thursday that Yukiru Sugisaki is ending the 1001 Knights manga in the magazine's next issue on September 23. Sugisaki previously revealed in January that the manga had entered its climax.
Sugisaki launched the manga in Monthly Asuka in 2012. Kadokawa published the manga's ninth compiled book volume (seen right) on January 24. Comic Walker published the manga's first chapter in English in 2014.
The Arabian Nights-inspired tale centers around two twins, Naito and Yuta, who travel to Dubai in search of their missing father. They encounter a peddler and before they know it, they awaken in the world of One Thousand and One Nights.
Monthly Asuka also serialized Sugisaki's D.N.Angel manga series, which Tokyopop published in North America until the company ceased publishing in 2011. Viz Media licensed the series for digital release in 2014. Xebec studio adapted D.N.Angel into a television anime series in 2003, and A.D. Vision and Discotek Media released the anime for North America. Sugisaki's Lagoon Engine manga was also published by Asuka magazine and Tokyopop, and its spinoff, Lagoon Engine Einsatz, ran in A.D. Vision's Newtype USA magazine.
